Sorry for the messy post, but I’ve just opened the box of my new Sprint Touch Pro (the CDMA version of the HTC Touch Pro/ATT Fuze), and decided to post a couple of photos of the device next to my old Sprint Mogul.
Initial impressions are that this is the best CDMA Windows Mobile phone to date.

It has taken 2 years, but the first real Windows Mobile phone with the potential to take on the iPhone is coming soon. The HTC Touch HD is a very well specced device with a 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, a 528MHz processor and a 480×800 “HD” screen. The specifications are fairly similar to the SonyEricsson Xperia X1, which is still not shipping.
The only thing missing in this device is quad-band 3G support. As usual, HTC will be making several versions of this device, and none will provide true worldwide support for the various 3G networks.
It should be out in a month for around $600 (unconnected price).

The best mobile phone leaks always seem to be made with the worst possible cameras. And this leak is no different. It’s meant to show the a new HTC phone, with a Sprint logo.
The existence of a CDMA (the system Sprint and Verizon use) version of the Touch Diamond/Touch Pro was already confirmed, but this photo means Sprint is probably going to be the first to get it.
Of course, a blurry photo doesn’t necessarily mean it’s real, and it wouldn’t be the first prank photo made in Photoshop, but I’m cautiously optimistic that Sprint will indeed have this phone in stores within the next month or two.
Of course, this also means that the Sprint answer to the iPhone (the Instinct) will be "extinct" pretty soon.

It’s just 2 months since HTC formally announced their newest smartphone, and it’s already available from a US vendor.
CompUSA has the phone in stock for just $779.99, which may sound insane compared to a $199 3G iPhone, but the Diamond ships without any commitment or contract on a mobile operator. It’s also lower than most launch prices of previous HTC phones (Touch, TyTn, TyTNII).
But before you click "purchase", be aware that it is only the tri-band version of the Diamond, so no support at all for AT&T Wireless (voice or data) and no support for T-mobile 3G data. It’s essentially a "look what I have" phone.
And last but not least: If HTC can get a phone released this fast, why is it taking so long for SonyEricsson to release the Xperia X1?

Just 3 days ago I posted about a secret new HTC phone that popped up as an upcoming device for T-mobile in Germany.
Thankfully it didn’t stay a secret for long. Today, HTC introduced it as the "Touch Pro". It has the same stylish look and redesigned interface of the HTC Diamond, but adds a sliding keyboard, and TV out.
No idea when it’ll be on shelves, or how much it will cost. But at the speed HTC have been churning out new phones, it’ll probably be before the end of summer.

Well, that is fast. The HTC Touch Diamond was only announced a month ago, and is already on sale in Hong Kong.
The first US imports should arrive here pretty soon too, though msmobiles.com does warn people to wait so they can be sure they’ll get a model that actually works over here.
I’m quite surprised HTC managed to go from announcement to sales this quickly; they either had the device pretty much finished when they announced it, or they worked like mad to get it ready before Apple could (and will) steal their thunder next week. It’s just a shame that SonyEricsson can’t follow this example and get the Xperia X1 on shelves sooner.

If you answered my question with "the SonyEricsson Xperia X1", then you’ve been paying attention.
But there is now a new challenger for "coolest Windows Smartphone", and it’s the "MDA Vario IV" (the internal HTC name is currently unknown)
The design closely resembles the Diamond, but it adds a sliding QWERTY keyboard. You still get GPS, a 3MP camera, 3G and the nifty HTC Touch interface. Price and release are unknown, as is whether this beauty will actually be available on any other operators.

BestBuy isn’t exactly known for its vast assortment of cutting edge technology, so the announcement that they plan to sell the Newest HTC Touch smartphone is a bit of a surprise.
The Touch Dual is built upon the same size as all other HTC Touch devices (and others like the Sprint Touch and the Verizon XV6900), but adds a nice sliding numeric keypad.
The reason I ask "why" is because the Touch Dual is "so last week" and the internal 3G frequencies won’t even work in the US. It’s almost like HTC are trying to get rid of them so they can start selling something better.

Coolsmartphone managed to get their lucky hands on the new HTC Diamond, well before anyone else. They are currently on day 3 with the device, and have some great videos posted.
If the thought of a Windows Powered VGA 3G WiFi GPS device turns you on (it shouldn’t) or if you are just interested in seeing what Apple will be up against this summer, then head on over to their reviews:
P.S. Some UK stores list the Diamond as being available around June 9th.

My deal of the day today is the Qtek 8500 Windows Mobile 5 smartphone.
This quad band EDGE/Bluetooth enabled phone has a MicroSD slot for memory expansion, and is probably one of the cheapest unlocked Quadband phones available at the moment.
It’s "razr" thin and comes complete with a battery, charger, headset and USB sync cable.
The downside? It’s only available in Pink, but at $67 do you really care?
However… If you don’t mind "b-grade stock" then you can pick up a black version for just $55!
