After a short hiatus from blogging this week (I just wasn’t in the mood. On Tuesday a colleague I’ve worked with for 8 years died unexpectedly and on Wednesday my company announced layoffs of 150 people, many of whom I work with everyday.) I thought the best way to cheer myself up was to start planning my 2013 vacations. My first vacation in 2013 will be Alaska. I have been several times and love it. My primary focus will be whale watching. My second trip will be my dream vacation. I plan on doing a Safari in Africa. This is something I’ve never done before and can’t wait to do!

My latest travel dream is to go all around India, eating my way north to south and visiting a couple of tea and spice plantations.
I’d spend a week or two in one of those overwater bungalows in the South Pacific.
I have been fortunate enough to travel to all 50 states and several countries in Europe. That being said, I salivate at the opportunity to take a reposition cruise . . . all the way from Seattle to LAX, get on a merchant vessel, cruise to Punta Arenas, Chile, THEN hop on an Antarctic cruise to see the ice shelves before they disappear. I would fly to Chile, but I’m trying to be environmentally friendly hopping on ships that are going there with or without me. I’d kayak there if I had the arm strength! ;-P

Since I was a young child I have always wanted to go to Egypt. I’ve wanted to go out of the city to see the pyramids and the Sphinx. I’ve wanted to go down the Nile on a river boat (like the Agatha Christie mystery) to Luxor and see the Valley of Kings. These are the pyramids that I am talking about. Made by humans (slaves really) and it is something that we still marvel at. I’d also like to go to the museums to see the ancient Egyptian relics; the sarcophagus, pottery shards, jewelry. I could go on and on, but this is my dream trip.
My dream trip has always been to go to Australia… I am very lucky and was able to go last year which was a dream come true! Now my new dream trip would probably be visiting the more historic cities in Europe like Rome and Istanbul.
I would love to go on a safari in South Africa. I would love to spend take taking photos, searching for The Big Five, and enjoy being out in nature with no traffic (well there could be animals blocking our path but that’s ok!) or skyscrapers!

Dream Trip: Spending at least a month in Australia and New Zealand and then taking a nice long cruise back home to the states.

Mongolia, traveling by horseback. In spite of Tim Cahill’s description of the Mongolian death trot, this is the dream I can’t shake.
Currently, a tropical island for a few days, such as anywhere in southeast Pacific, French Polynesia or even Hawai’i. Beach, breeze, relaxation, and a good book. After that, probably Japan.
Safari, but more than that, explore all of Africa. That continent has fascinated me for a long time.
Current dream vacation…a trip to the Conrad Koh Samui via (mostly) Cathay Pacific service in First. I’m super excited
I’m sorry for your losses. What a tough week you had! My dream vacation would be to take my parents to Amsterdam in the springtime to see all the beautiful flowers and to explore ancestry homes and cementaries.
That would definitely be at one of those numerous private islands in the Maldives.
My dream vacation would be to go on safari to Kenya and Tanzania.
I’d like to take a trip to Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti with my family. There was a fare sale last January for $1200 per person to those three countries but we already booked a trip to Turkey and Greece. My second dream trip will be to Argentina and Chile.

My dream vacation is to go to Turkey and Spain with my mom. She’s been dreaming of going there and I would love to take her there with me. Considering she’s never flown a true Business Class or First Class product, I’d like her to experience that as well.

Wow, you have had a rough go lately. I have been through two layoffs, one where we lost half our department in one day. It is really hard on everyone.
