  1. James D says:

    Option 1 – classy

  2. Howie R says:

Pretty clear you need to use the cool lime refresher color as an accent. Could it be more obvious?

  3. mike says:

    Option 1-Newspaper feel

  4. Tara says:

I’m a big fan of dark backgrounds, light fonts and your blog stands out from the others just the way it is. I’d say identify your target audience (tech savvy business travelers?) and keep a theme that appeals to them. Tara T.

  5. Jelizk says:

Option 1, it’s different than all other blogs.

  6. mike L. says:

    Option 1-newspaper feel.
Posted before but I left out my last name initial.

  7. Paul P. says:

    Silver-gray background with black text?

  8. Landon H says:

Option 1 – As Momma always said “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

  9. Nadine A says:

Definitely keep the black and white – it is so classic!

  10. Joseph M says:

    Option 1 like it

  11. Jimmy Y. says:

    I prefer Option #1 as well :)

  12. Steve Turner says:

I say don’t change it. It is easy on the eyes.

  13. Jeffrey L says:

Definitely option 1! It is quite unique.

  14. Max J says:

    Option 2 with Teal!

  15. FEV says:

I like it as it is. But, change can be refreshing.

So, Option 2 – with soft green accent (the color of money)

  16. Elaine F says:

I am for option 3. I usually read the blog in an email, but when I go to the actual blog, I find it harder to read white letters on black than vice versa. Also if I cut and paste some useful info into a file I keep on my laptop, I need to change the color of the font from the white. So yes, it is classy and different but to me less user friendly. I suggest a white or very light background and dark letters. I like a very dark blue (navy). But I will read it however you do it ;) !

  17. tiffany l says:

    option 1!

  18. kvr says:

I prefer the current design (option #1). :)

  19. Marc W says:

    Option 2!

  20. Anthony C says:

    1

  21. David H says:

Option 1 as it is unique!

  22. John M says:

I vote for Option 3…mix it up. And, here is a great article on why… http://uxmovement.com/content/when-to-use-white-text-on-a-dark-background/

  23. Sarah C says:

    option 1

  24. Julie P says:

Option 1 – simple and clean

  25. Tom says:

Option 2 with the color of that Starbucks drink

  26. Luis A says:

    Op3 .- AA Silver background, black/dark letters.

  27. Abhinav G. says:

    Option 2

  28. Andrew S says:

White background with black lettering. Studies indicate that dark text on a light background improves readability.

  29. Kara P says:

Option 3. Keep the white writing with a dark blue background.

  30. Donn says:

option 3 Maybe gray white letters…..black background seems a little hard on the eyes.

  31. Haik Y. says:

Option #2 with dark citron background.

  32. Matt R. says:

    Option #1

  33. Jonathan H says:

I like the black background but perhaps choose a color (orange?) for accents.

  34. renee f says:

    option 1

  35. Faye G says:

keep it the way it is

  36. joel a. says:

Option #1 — black and white.

  37. Mehdi R. says:

Unequivocally option 2. Option one serves as a distractor here for the average reader. Sure it has sex appeal, but it will tire on readers eyes, and force them to go elsewhere. Keep it clean, modern, and simply, and watch the readers line up!!

  38. brian says:

Option 2 — lime green. Wall Street and Starbucks

  39. Jose A says:

Option 3 – Let it be any background color except black. Black is a turn off.

  40. kennie says:

    option one is good

  41. phill gold says:

    option 2, green
    Thanks!

  42. Leslie Gross says:

I think you should use a tie-dyed theme, but with pastel colors.

  43. Matt M says:

Option 1, it stands out from the other blogs.

  44. Rachel T says:

Option two with a nice green accent color. (Current scheme is a bit hard on the eyes).

  45. DJ S says:

Option 3 – keep the black background but change the font to a light non white color

  46. Jay says:

I would have to say Option1.

  47. Vito Z says:

    Option 1. It’s great!

  48. Wendy says:

I prefer a white background with black text. Its easier on my eyes. How about a patterned background. Like a favorite photo of the New York City skyline. Have it tiled and muted a bit so its not busy.

  49. R gage says:

    Option 1

  50. Timothy m says:

    Option 1

  51. Marc says:

    I go with option 2

  52. Nathan says:

Option 1 – leave theme black and white. It stands out and looks good with your title banner.

  53. Anand S. says:

Option 1, black and white is classic.

  54. Bill G says:

Option 2, perhaps a an orange accent

  55. Denise L says:

    Basic black and white.

  56. Megan S says:

    Option 1

  57. Denise says:

    Option 1. Love the look!

  58. Scott H says:

If you’re planning to provide the same information as every other travel blogger, then by all means change the theme to look like them, too.

If, on the other hand, you plan to continue to provide a little different perspective, you plan to occasionally remind us to act like we all share this little blue marble floating through the Milky Way, and don’t plan to post credit card referral links, well, that’s a horse of a different color :)

Please keep the existing theme. It’s unique and it’s a great visual cue when I hit the site that there will be something that I want to read.

  59. Spencer F says:

    Keep it as option 1

  60. Dan Y says:

Option 1 – keep it simple

  61. Nancy H says:

    I like Option 1.

  62. Paul H says:

Option 1, nobody has this scheme and it looks great

  63. Charlotte A says:

Like the black and white- option 1.

  64. Sandeep says:

Kinda like it as is….looks different than all the others out there.

  65. Ping H says:

    Option 1

  66. Chris H says:

Option 1! If you had very long posts, it would be hard to read, but it works as-is.

  67. Corey says:

    leave it

  68. Dee G. says:

Option 1 but with a white background since it opens the blog scheme up a bit in my opinion :)

  69. Aleks K says:

I like the current theme, because it’s classy and different than most blogs. However, white text on black background is difficult for many people’s eyes, so I’d suggest Option 3: lighten up the background to more of a gray and leave the text white.

  70. ConnieL says:

    Option 1! Black and white!

  71. Cheryl L says:

I like option 1 though wouldn’t be opposed to a lime fresher theme. I like the thought of chartreuse. It’s a cheery color!

  72. Danielle says:

Leave it alone. It is refreshing to not have to be bombarded with color.

  73. James S says:

    Option 1

  74. Kiddad says:

Option 2 with red accent color (washed out just a little). It will make the whole banner totally pop.

  75. Kidi says:

Option 2- black lettering and teal accent. I worked in advertising a number of years ago and we tried to discourage “reverse” ads because it is harder on the eyes to read and resulted in less comprehension. If you google “reverse text comprehension” you will find that there have been studies done showing light letters on dark background is more difficult for readers. Whatever you decide, I’ll still read your blog…..Good luck!

  76. Kim Z says:

    Name for comment 70….

  77. Daniel says:

A green, or any color you prefer, street sign, leaving the lettering white and rest B&W or the header sepia toned.

  78. Suzy S. says:

Option 1: I like the current look

  79. Henry says:

    Definitely option 1!

  80. Alex P says:

Option 3 – With a dark and light green like in the Cool Lime Refresher! Seems like those colors would also match your Wall St sign if you used a color version.

  81. Andrew says:

White + accent color with multiple hues…

  82. Jansen B says:

    Option 1.

  83. laurent R says:

    Option 1

  84. Abhishek D says:

Option 1 – leave theme black and white

  85. Martin V says:

    Keep it B+W

  86. Alde M says:

option 1 – keep it simple

  87. Owen G says:

I prefer your current color scheme to most blogs. I’m not opposed to change, but if it isn’t broken…

  88. Danielle E. says:

I like Option 1. If you go to Option 2, I would suggest using an accent color that doesn’t raise eyes if your readers are reading your blog while at work (e.g. I used to have pink and blue accents and my friends wouldn’t read my blog while at work)

  89. David Singer says:

Go with option 2 – white background with grey accent.

  90. Cindy says:

I like option #2. For the accent color, I would choose a bright teal (like the “T” in the twitter logo).

  91. Sean says:

    Option 1. Leave it.

  92. Terry H says:

    Option 1. It’s a good look.

  93. Ari K says:

Black is bold. Stick with what works.

  94. Amanda S says:

How about option 2 with a teal color.

  95. Amanda L says:

I like voilet background and white letters, sort of like starwood’s theme. Lively yet cool.

  96. JoC says:

    option 2

the accent color being very pale grey.

  97. Connie K. says:

Option 1 – easy to read and looks professional

  98. Sanjeev M says:

Option 1 – So much easier to read than having large areas of whitespace shine at you.

  99. Joanna S. says:

I like the white-on-black. It’s different and easy to read. Stick with it.

  100. Huz says:

Option 1 – its the only travel blog I follow that has this scheme, so I always know whose posts I’m reading!

  101. Helen C says:

    White with blue letters

  102. Rich C says:

White any color letters are fine

  103. Matthew c says:

    Option 1

  104. Ally C says:

White with black easy on the eyes

  105. Deniz says:

Make the background light and text dark. The current contrast is harsh on the eyes. Perhaps a light beige background and dark text.

  106. Paul says:

I like the black and white

  107. Sam S. says:

    option 2 with teal

  108. sarah S. says:

kinda like just plain old black and white.

  109. barbara S. says:

    the more colors…the more funner!!!

  110. bruce S. says:

I like it just the way it is…

  111. SY OCHOA says:

Option 1 – leave theme black and white

  112. Lucia Ochoa says:

    leave theme black and white

  113. Kathy says:

I like the monochromatic look, but I
d recommend lighting all the colors up a tad. Too heavy, depressing, dark…just pull it up a couple of shades. :)

  114. Mandy H. says:

I like the idea of using the lime green color with the black and white. :)

    aandj8804[at]gmail.com

  115. dubaych says:

Option 3: White on white, keep it myterious

  116. Gia Smith says:

Option 2 – and since you love the cool lime drink, make the accent color lime!

  117. Jennifer S. says:

I like the current scheme, but find it hard to read. I’d prefer dark letters on a just-lightly-off-white background. Use the edges of the page to make the design statement.

  118. Jean says:

I like it as it is!

  119. Shannon M. says:

Option 2: White with slate grey accent. This way you can use transparent JPEGs, GIFs and PNG files and add a depth illusion to your image formatting.

And agreed, the Cool Lime Refreshers are tasty!

  120. Nghiep N says:

I would prefer option #1 since it is easy to read. Thanks.

  121. Rebecca D. says:

    Option 1; it’s black and white :)

  122. Paige B. says:

Option 1 – I like the white on black!!

  123. Chris G says:

    option 1! it’s timeless

  124. Dee j says:

It’s hard to read now, I think a light Grey background with dark lettering would be easier on the eye. Still would stand out as not being on a white background. Maybe burgundy or dark blue type.

  125. Samuel C says:

    Option 1

  126. Sophia L. says:

Option 2 with blue (undecided about the shade).

  127. Jonathan G says:

Choose a different color scheme. Black background makes this look like a hacker website (not travel hacker)! Just go through “sign up” for blogspot or wordpress and look through their themes, until you find a color scheme you like. Then simply use those colors.

  128. Patrick M says:

I like the Black and White. Easier on the eyes. Keep option 1.

  129. Margit A says:

I like the clean simple black and white…

  130. John L says:

Option 3 – Keep some black but use an accent color that is also dark such as dark blue etc.

  131. Ryan H says:

    Option 2 with sky blue!

  132. Best o luck with your new venture

  133. Abe C says:

Agree with the comment above saying that frankly, the blog looks like a hacker site. Option 2 with a light accent (green/blue) would be nice.

  134. David says:

    Stacey,

Switch to a white background and use a green color for the accent (inspired by the Starbucks Cool Lime Refresher). It will make the blog easier to read and give it a touch of spring.
