Fair enough to draw a distinction between travel insurance policies that handle interruption and cancellation and ensuring that your health insurance covers you sufficiently wherever you travel.

Note that I specifically say above that one should insure against catastrophic events.

Medical evac from remote locations is certainly something to consider if your standard policy won't provide for it.

Very much disagree with general concept of travel insurance not being a good thing! For my clients traveling abroad, I want them to have emergency medical care and medical evacuation back home in case something happens. In over 20 years in the travel business, I've had clients develop a first-ever kidney stone attack while in France; fall down stairs and get a concussion in Italy; have an aneurysm burst in Hawaii. We work hard at offering what we have found to be the most reliable insurance options for our clients, make sure they know what is and isn't covered, etc. And certainly make sure they know the difference in buying a cruise line or tour operator's insurance vs. buying from a third party company.
