The February issue of Conde Nast Traveler as a has a long-ish piece on Flyertalk, the Star Alliance MegaDO, Pudding Guy, cockroaches, Continental DOs, and more. (here’s a .pdf, scanned by a Flyertalker).

The article contains ten tips for accumulatng miles, which it attributes to me. Close enough, and boiled down to bullet points for a magazine sidebar, though I think one of the tips may not have come from me… Hah!

I specifically laud Air Canada Aeroplan and Continental Onepass, and take United to task for Starnet blocking, and Delta to task for difficulty in redeeming international premium class awards. Take that, United and Delta! I’ll continue screaming from the roof tops until you clean up your act!

    Wonderful tips attributed to you in the article, I very much enjoyed it and am grateful that you posted it on your wonderful blog.
    I was very interested to see your choice of top airlines for miles. I was wondering if you feel that Aeroplan is a good place for folks from the USA to be accumulating their miles?
    It wasn’t clear to me from the article if you would rate it over Continental for use by people in the United States or not? Or if it was more a comparison of the programs without consideration of how useful they might be in the US?
    I would be most grateful if you would be willing to share your thoughts on this.

    EpiFlyer – Air Canada Aeroplan awards are unusually flexible, and another key advantage of the program is that Star Alliance Gold status gives lounge access even on USA domestic travel. Whereas Star Alliance Gold status on Continental, United and US Airways does not – they need to be on international itineraries or have paid club membership.

    Aeroplan awards can be used on much the same airlines (ie all of Star Alliance) as Continental OnePass.
