Aegean Airlines takes 4k miles to hit their Blue Miles and Points which equals Silver Star Alliance status. And 16k Miles to hit Gold Miles and Points = Gold Star Alliance. Imagine that

I will hold my horses about Turkish Airlines, as other people claim I will be gold at 40k in spite of status miles being reset to 0 at 25k. I truly hope so!

Loved your article. As a first time UA1K, with travel looking sparse for me this year, I may well have to consider trying the lower miles options on other *A carriers to even get close to requalifying. Thanks for the great info.

Actually, I went with Turkish Airlines to earn quick Star Alliance Gold, but from everything I can see now, it actually takes _65000_ miles to get Gold, because it is a staggered program (like bmi). Basically, your status miles are reset when you reach Silver, and then you need 40000 to go Gold.

This has caused me a big head ache in my planning to get Gold, but I have no choice but to stay in the boat.

(I might be incorrect, and I would love to be corrected, but clearly my status miles were resetted when reaching Silver!)
