Via Frugal Travel Guy, Marriott is offering 5000 points for a timeshare presentation. The pitch takes about 30 minutes, is described as online but one of Rick’s readers says is actually by phone, but at least isn’t in person. And the report suggests it’s pretty soft sell to boot.
So if you expect to have 30 minutes to kill and want a few points, you can schedule a pitch.

Timeshares are so 10 years ago…
The fine print says the points are given only after “completion of tour and sales presentation”. The tour part goes way beyond the 30 minute phone / online presentation.
Would anybody really endure this for 5000 Marriott points?
I’d need a number 10 times that to seriously consider it.

One of my readers, that owns a Marriott property, was offered 10,000 points for a 45 minute presentation
I don’t see any mention of 5K points on the site. Am I missing it or was it never listed there? I don’t want to schedule anything until I have a screenshot of the offer.
I’ve been stood up. I may be the first person in the history of the world to be stood up for a time share presentation.
You don’t see any mention of the 5K points because the offer has been pulled. It’s no longer available. You had to act quickly.
Just talked to a Vacation Club Representative on 9/24/10. The offer of the 5K points is still on at least through Sept 30 and perhaps longer however they no longer offer the $50 Gift Card. They will not do a Credit Check but you do need a qualifying income which they will review with you prior to scheduling the 30min presentation which I understand will be conducted on another day.

Did the pre-scheduled phone/internet presentation today with a sales rep. He emailed a package, have to review it and talk to him again tomorrow – buy it now, not interested, maybe later. You know which one I am going to select of the three choices. 🙂
