If you have an existing non-platinum account go here (its in german but chrome/firefox can translate for you), enter your member number and email, click the button and you get upgraded to Platinum for free.
Update: Commenter Colleen notes “…or just select “English” on the upper right pull-down menu and the translated page will appear
”
As I noted with a previous offer at the beginning of last month,
Platinum status generally requires 60 nights (or 25,000 points earned) and comes with a 100% points bonus and then at Sofitel, Pullman, and MGallery hotels: room upgrades that the rules say you specifically have to ask for, 4pm late checkout, guaranteed availability, and a welcome drink and gift.
I’ve always found it odd that A|Club elite status doesn’t get you recognition at Novotel properties, but still being Platinum which is their top tier is certainly better than a hole in the head as my grandfather used to say — especially when the status is instant and free.

Thanks for the heads up. Registered for the free Gold Status a few weeks back, timed in well with a business trip last week where i did the mandatory stay and now an upgrade to Platinum!

The page it brings me to says this “Flying Blue offers you the opportunity to have your A|Club points automatically transferred to your FFP account after each stay”
There’s nothing about Platinum upgrade.

Any idea how long the status is good for? Will any of the major US chains comp off of this?

I don’t see any burn preference. Anybody facing the same issue ?

I created a new account and tried the form and it says they will take my application under consideration.

I created a new account, logged on, and changed my earning option to British Air by inputting my BA# (it didn’t seem like it “took”).
Now when I log on, my Platinum status is noted on my welcome screen.
Never needed to go back to this linked promo screen, as a newbie.
Thanks Gary!

Registered, seems like i’m now plat…Now what does that actually get me?
I’m staying in a Sofitel next month, but booked it through Hotels.com
Will I get any special treatment during my stay? Do I get free breakfast?
I can’t find any details about their rewards prgram online

Ok, I found the breakdown of what plat means…basically nothing if you don’t care about their points: http://www.a-club.com/en/membership-levels.html

Ok, it’s done, thank you. Why the weird arrangement with getting benefits only at 3 brands?? I was looking so forward to my bath amenities & upgrade to a corner suite at the Motel6:-)

Sweet! Now I have Plat status now. Now where to go and use it is the real question.

Are there any bonus points promo for sign up? And is this valid for new sign ups?
Rajnish said,
Does anyone know how long this status will be valid for and which hotels can match status for having elite status with Accor?
Tim said,
Thanks, I have Plat status as well. Does anyone know if there are other hotel chains who match status?
Shawn said,
Is it possible to leverage a status match with any of the other major chains (i.e. Hilton, Starwood, Marriott)?

@Iolaire – I logged in to my new account and went to “profile”. Chose Option 2 for points options (bottom of page) and it provided input boxes for my FF# (I used BA). It seemed to not “take” so I redid a couple of times. When I next looked at my front page with them, the faux membership card said “platinum member”.
I never used the form provided here via link. It’s for existing folks, I guess. Give it another try?

I think I’ve had perpetual platinum status with A-Club for three years now. Between two accounts in my name and one in my wife’s, these promos are endless. Pity it doesn’t really get us much. It’s not helped at Novotel locations and the only time we stayed at a Sofitel in recent times involved an upgrade because it was a Virtuoso booking, not because I was Plat.
andrew said,
Thanks for the tip. I too received the upgrade.

Sweet! Thanks for the tip! Signed up as new member & then followed link and instant upgrade. Might just have to splurge on an overnight at my local MSP Sofitel soon! DH’s birthday is coming up soon, anyway.

It worked this morning. When I saw a screen that invited me to start earning Flying Blue miles, up in the left corner it said I was already Plat on Accor. Several minutes later an email arrived with the same information.

I just did it at 1:00 pm Central Monday and it worked.
Logged into AwardWallet, clicked the update, and Platinum is there, moments later.
I have one stay with Accor, at IBIS in June.
Thanks for the tip!

It still works. I just created an account and went straight to the link. I logged out, then back in and the Platinum was clearly showing with my zero balance.
I don’t think Accor is very useful to me, but it would be pretty awesome if we can leverage this for a status match elsewhere.

Worked perfectly for me. I opened up an account and then clicked the link, got an “under consideration” message but my status changed almost instantly. Working on getting status match to Club Carlson Gold now . . .
Thanks!
