Apparently the winner of last night’s debates wasn’t Mitt Romney or Barack Obama. It was… Spirit Airlines.
They’ve been “winning the debate between high fares and low fares for years.” They are…

Here’s their entire thirteen year old boy marketing copy (emphasis mine):
We’ve been winning the debate between high fares and low fares for years – you could even say we are master debaters in this area. You see, high fares really rub us the wrong way, so we continue to fight to lower your fares every day. So stop getting jerked around, and enjoy these fares from only $29.80* when you travel from October 11, 2012 through November 15, 2012. All flights must be booked by 11:59 PM ET on October 5, 2012. Hurry, these fares are limited in availability!
This was a great joke when I was a high school debater (insert your own joke… about me in high school… here).
And it even made an appearance in a not very good movie that was based in part on the college debate team I would later join.
I, on the other hand, grew up (sort of). Spirit did not. Nothing new from the airline that ran an Anthony Weiner sale and a MILF sale (Many Islands, Low Fares). And the airline that invited us to check out women in bikinis oiling themselves during the Gulf oil spill.
(Hat tip to my thirteen year old brother, Jared Blank)

I always liked the one about going fishing and needing a junior baiter to come along. After a while theycan work their way from junior to master

Well it was interesting enough that you wrote about it right? No such thing as bad publicity. Gotta love Spirit! (and by love I mean admire from a distance while never actually stepping foot on any of their planes)

I knew that you did HS debate, but not college. What college team/debate format were you affiliated with (I know you may want to answer via email)?

@anasaf – “Listen to Me” was based in part on the UCLA CEDA debate team.
