On Saturday I shared that registration and special hotel rate booking opened for Frequent Traveler University, April 26-28 in Northern Virginia.
I’m helping to organize the event, in particular the program, and I’ve also mentioned that I’m not locking down speakers and topics until after the Los Angeles Frequent Traveler University event November 30 – December 2.
However, I’ve already shared that Mommy Points, One Mile at a Time, and I are going to be on the program.
I’ve since received a commitment from The Points Guy and Million Mile Secrets to participate as well.
Already I’ve had some great feedback about differentiating the program from past events — there’s a desire for much of the same core content because many people haven’t had a chance to attend similar events in the past, at several hundred per event there are tens of thousands of potentially interested folks who haven’t been yet. On the other hand we want to have both differentiation of content and of levels of that content, and so we’ll be doing more tracking.
Already most sessions are run concurrently but we’ll work to ensure there isn’t a choice at a given time between two beginner or two expert sessions for instance, or between two new sessions versus two similar to what’s been presented before. I’m not sure whether it will always work but we’ll try that.
This is a great effort to bring education and sharing in person to frequent flyers interested in miles, points, and travel. We’ve raised some money for charity through these events in the past, too. It’s all about bringing folks together, and so while I can’t meet everyone’s needs every time I can always try to ensure we do better each time.
Seminar registration for April is here.
Apparently the event is already popular enough that the initial room block had sold out, fortunately we were able to secure additional rooms. There’s a special booking link for the host hotel in order to receive the $89 group rate.
Look forward to seeing folks there!

Good job organizing these as always Gary. Ive already told many to attend and some of us, self included, have booked it. I have my room and cant wait for the event.
I know you are not done with Nov org yet but you know I wish to speak in April so we shall see how the cards fall as such events are probably best spiced up with new and varied view points differing from the norm.
Cheers!

Wow, the second room block at the Hilton is gone already too. Luckily, I was able to book the Sheraton for 2800 points and $45/night.

Looks like the block still has double bed rooms available.

Does FTU tie in with the Freddie Awards, and, if so, how?
Gary said,
@Biggles209 – There will be an industry conference on Wednesday/Thursday (which I am not an organizer of). The Freddie Awards will be on Thursday evening. There will be a separate event on Friday. FTU is Friday evening-Sunday. So it’s very much loyalty week. But there’s no direct tie-in between Freddies and FTU.

@Nick this morning I checked and it looked like it was available the first night but not the second, we’ll look into that.
