American Express Business Gold Rewards: 50,000 points after $5000 spending within 3 months, no fee the first year.
It was supposed to last through the 26th, but I just got word that this offer is being pulled in the afternoon tomorrow, November 20th.
So only one day left to apply, contra my earlier post this morning.
As I explained this morning, the standard offer for this card doesn’t even come with any signup bonus at all. And the spending requirement on this offer is half the usual for when there is a bonus attached.
This offer is 50,000 points after $5000 spend within 3 months. Which for most people is even better than the occasional 75,000 point offers (that usually only are around for a day) that require $10,000 spending to receive the points.
There’s no fee the first year, $175 thereafter, and the card earns triple points on airfare and double points on purchases in the U.S. for advertising in select media, gasoline at U.S. stand-alone gas stations, and shipping, as well as of course one point on other purchases.
I got the card myself back in December when there was a 50,000 point signup bonus and $10,000 required spend. So I cannot get it again. It was worth it to me with the higher spending requirement, so the lower one is certainly attractive.
The signup bonuses for the Chase Ink Bold Charge Card and Chase Ink Plus business credit card are both a bit more attractive — both offer 50,000 points with the same amount of spending, but Chase points are in my opinion worth more than American Express Membership Rewards points. So if you were only going to get one card, I’d say the Chase options are better. But since they come from different issuers you can, of course, get both…
Do know that the credit card links in this post, which represent the best available offers I’m aware of for each card, do offer referral credit to me if you use them to apply. So I greatly appreciate it if you choose to. Thanks!

Well, I may go for this tonight then. I was going to do a churn on Nov 30th, since that would be 91 days after my last Amex application. But as this is expiring now, and 91 days is just a guideline…
I was a little concerned with the spend since I’ve got a Bold and some other things queued up for this churn so I was going to bypass this and go for an AA Amex card, but just realized that would be a Citibank card, not really a separate Amex card. And JUST got a CitiBusiness AA. So not really looking to apply for another Citi card right now.
May have to put some business hotel stuff on one of these cards even its its only 1X instead of using my Hilton Surpass or SPG Amex cards to get the spend done this quarter…

no offense, but when people say you are getting a bit focused on the CC pushing, this is what they point to…
i get that its your blog, and your choice, but did this merit another FULL post point after another full post this morning?

jason,
The deadline is tomorrow afternoon. He didn’t know that when he posted the previous article. You’d prefer he didn’t tell any of us and we missed this opportunity? I’m not clear what your complaint is.
Its pretty easy to scroll by the article if you’re not interested…

@jason I had the original information that it was expiring in a week, I do think it warranted a second post because the information changed and i didn’t want folks to think they had a week left and miss the offer if they were planning to apply.

Thank you for posting that the offer was expiring. I was thinking of applying but hadn’t focused on it. I just applied and was approved. Those people who don’t want to read about credit card offers should just not read those posts!

Can someone explain the AMEX rules to me for churning? I read it as I can’t have an open account for the last 90 days if it is not the same flavor card and I could not have an open account for the last year if it is the same flavor. But it seems that in reality the rule is you could not apply for a card more than twice in the 90 day window. Which is it?
