Delta normally charges $50 for a single visit pass, something that I’d almost never consider to be ‘worth it.’

Through the end of the year, though, they will sell you (4) passes for $99. That’s about $25 a pass, or half off the regular price.

You can only purchase the passes in person at a club, and you have to mention that you want the special offer (I guess if you just ask for 4 passes they’ll instinctively want to charge you $200 — but if you know the secret handshake you get it for half that).

There’s no way to make the purchases online. But you can do it at any Delta Skyclub, you don’t need to be using the club that day in order to buy the passes and you don’t need to be a member to buy the passes. They’ll be valid for a year and won’t have names on them, they can be used by anyone.

Two years ago they made a similar — though better — offer of five passes for $99, about $20 apiece.

Potentially good for the occasional lounge visitor who will be getting less value out of the Skyguide Executive Privilege Club in the coming year.

IMHO, Delta skyclub visits are worth at most $7-10, unless you drink a lot. Most of the clubs these days tend to be packed to the point that sometimes there’s less seating in the club than out (any skyclub in ATL seems to be like that).

Two years ago I bought my passes at the airport and they also let me in for free that day.

I wouldn’t give $1 for Delta passes – at least not to use at JFK. We used the Delta lounge at JFK this past October. The area was messy and there was no free wine – we were told they ran out. Really? So we had to pay $8 for a glass of ordinary table wine. Snacks consisted of nuts, olives and crackers. A bar would have been better.

I’ve got SkyClub access with the AMEX AL Reserve and the AMEX Plat… both were not even benefits I considered. Unless you spend a lot of time connecting, sky clubs are a pretty miserable offering.

I’m finishing a year as a DL Reserve Card holder and although I like the 30K MQM I’ve earned, I have been largely disappointed with the clubs due to overcrowding and the relatively low caliber of food and beverage offerings. Found a lot of harried staff, dirty clubs, and badly behaved guests.

The clubs seem to work best for people who like to build lots of time into their travel or fly at offpeak hours when they are more gracious and comfortable. But as someone who lives in a DL hub city and tends to fly at peak hours, I’m not convinced of the value of a membership.
