Instant Platinum (top tier) status in the Accor Hotels loyalty program comes around with some frequency, each time it does the signup link won’t stay active for long — sometimes a couple of days, sometimes just hours.

Here’s the offer for instant Platinum status.

Note that the signup page is just a signup page, no indication on that page that accounts will start at the Platinum level, but indeed it’s currently working as of this writing.

You must open a new account, it cannot be applied to existing accounts. And when you do so you must use an email address that’s not currently on file with them. (if you have a gmail account you can add a period ‘.’ in the email address somewhere before the ‘@gmail.com’ and it will still be delivered to you but will appear to be a different, unique address.)

Even if you don’t frequently stay at Sofitel, Novotel, Pullman, Mercure, and other related properties frequently, you never know when you might find yourself in one and having top tier status can’t hurt.

Platinum status usually requires 60 nights or 25,000 points earned. It offers double points and at Sofitel, Pullman and MGallery hotels a complimentary drink and welcome gift, and subject to availability and on request 4pm late checkout and an upgrade.

Whenever I post these offers I’m asked about status match possibilities, whether you can leverage this status into status in another hotel loyalty program. A status match offer like Best Western generally has can be obtained without demonstrated stay activity attached to the top tier elite account, so this works there. Sometimes Hyatt asks for proof of stays when requesting a 90 day stay challenge in which case this wouldn’t be useful. Marriott doesn’t ask for proof any time, so this isn’t necessary in asking for one of their challenges.

    @cindy scott – in my experience I’m following a pretty standard convention, crediting where i found a link, there’s nothing stolen about it. many bloggers don’t credit at all which i quite look askance at, i actually think i’m one of the most careful in making sure that i do. and for what it’s worth, i really like you!

    @ Dale: If you look under “my profile” and click “more details” – it says points expire 1 year from today’s date, thus I imagine it’s good for a year.

    Still working as of noon Mountain time on Tuesday 12/18. Does not indicate Platinum until you get to the confirmation page and then see the status listed there. I can also confirm that it appears to be valid for 12 months. Much appreciated, and may your generosity in sharing be returned to you.

    Gary, any idea if SPG Starwood will elevate me from Gold to Platinum on the back of this? I also have Platinum at Hyatt and IHG Priority Club. Would either of those be a better try. I would find Platinum at SPG very handy! If they status upgrade is it for a year or less?

    And not to be uber snarky but maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, the website I’m hat tipping has taken tons of my stuff and never once credited. Which is the internet and I don’t get too excised about it. Except when someone claims I’m such a terrible person for writing about something I saw written about elsewhere, that I am open about having seen written about elsewhere. :)
