Southwest is offering double points on all travel book and flown between today and May 15. Registration required.

Travel booked prior to today will not earn double points regardless of when it’s flown.

You’ll receive 24 points (instead of the standard 12 points) per dollar spent on Business Select® Fares, 20 points (instead of ten points) per dollar spent on Anytime Fares, and 12 points (instead of six points) per dollar spent on Wanna Get Away?® Fares.

During the same promotion period and with the same registration they’re offering double tier qualifying points on every flight in and out of Milwaukee.

    If I already had a flight booked, will doing a change flight and changing to the same flights make it count as a double points promo? Or would I need to completely cancel and re-book?

    This is competitive for short flights. For a $500 round trip less than 500 miles each way, you could either earn 1000 United/AA/etc miles or 12000 Southwest points. Or an elite comparison (1k/exec vs A-list preferred) would be 2000 miles vs 18000 Southwest points.

    Good question, @Patrick Mc. Since Southwest doesn’t charge any cancellation fee, I was actually just about to suggest that anyone who has already booked a flight for that time frame cancel and rebook, assuming the price is the same or lower (or the value of the double points makes up for the added price).

    Not sure if merely “changing” your flight has the same effect, but might as well cancel and rebook to play it safe.

    @Patrick Mc you have to actually cancel the flight and book a new one so you get a new confirmation number. You can use the travel funds from the flight that you cancel

    I was pricing out a flight in April MSP to LAS one way and since 2 days ago they raised the price 50 bucks. Any chance they raised some prices for the double points promo?

    @Paul, seeing the same situation on my end also. Priced out a ticket from OMA to DEN, increased around $27 over the past 2-3 days.

    Checking SJC to PDX, the price is unchanged (provided you can meet the 10 day advance purchase requirement).
