Gotta agree with CP@YOW.

To me Leff's post is matter-of-fact. The only sarcasm I see is in his headline:

-He did not get his upgrade
-It was the first time in ages
-Delta's coach seats are not as good as UA E+
-Live TV is of little interest to him
-He felt like crap that day

Your flame of Gary is uncalled for and out of character for you. It's a POV review from a guy who is respected in the travel blogosphere for being objective.

Uhh, I sense a flame war :)

I sort of agree with CP that your post was a little, hmm, lenthy. I do agree with the overall theme, though. I certainly don't (generally) enjoy flying long distances in coach, but OMG I just did a weekend in FRA flying UA coach. And I survived -- as I have many times before. In fact, as I recently mentioned in another comment here, I didn't even know C/F other than from walking through it to my E/E+ seat until I discovered FT. Oh the horrors, thinking back to those days. Well, not really. 20 hrs in coach to South Africa (from SFO via ATL) was certainly long and I think I threw away my t-shirt at the end of the flight. But the trip was worth it and I'd do it again (in coach, if necessary) if I could just find the time.

And yeah, I can't quite understand complaints from people about the lack of entertainment. I always have more than enough to keep me occupied. I bring magazines that I never find time to read otherwise. A good book, too. And movies/TV shows on my PMP.

Sorry, G.Ro, but I have to disagree, though more with your reaction than with your argument. I followed the link to View from the Wing, expecting a long diatribe. Instead I found an incidental post, about a quarter the length of yours. You call it "histrionics", but honestly I think yours is the more "hyperbolic" post. (Nevertheless, I enjoyed your writing as always!)
