Today starts week 3 of the Weekly Getaway promotions and in my opinion today (Monday April 23) is the best offer yet. Through today’s offer you are able to buy Wyndham Reward points at about $0.0024-$0.0034 per point. Each offer is selling at a slightly different price per point and if you use an American Express credit card you get 10% off. Even if you aren’t into staying at Wyndham hotels, read through this post as you will see an amazing deal for transferring these points to airline miles and gift cards.

To quickly recap, there are 5 offers today all selling Wyndham Reward points. They are limited value and will sell out within seconds. You must have a Wyndham Reward account to purchase the offer, so make sure to create one in advance (create a Wyndham Rewards account for free here).

  • 16,000 Wyndham Rewards points (750 available/150 available during pre-sale)
    • cost without Amex card: $55 (cost per point = 0.0034)
    • cost with Amex card: $49.50 (cost per point = 0.0031)
    • max quantity per person = 2
  • 28,000 Wyndham Rewards points (350 available/75 available during pre-sale)
    • cost without Amex card: $76 (cost per point = 0.0027)
    • cost with Amex card: $68.40 (cost per point = 0.0024)
    • max quantity per person = 1
  • 32,000 Wyndham Rewards points (350 available/70 available during pre-sale)
    • cost without Amex card: $110 (cost per point = 0.0034)
    • cost with Amex card: $99 (cost per point = 0.0031)
    • max quantity per person = 1
  • 50,000 Wyndham Rewards points (300 available/60 available during pre-sale)
    • cost without Amex card: $143 (cost per point = 0.0029)
    • cost with Amex card: $128.70 (cost per point = 0.0026)
    • max quantity per person = 1
  • 48,000 Wyndham Rewards points for $165 (250 available/50 available during pre-sale)
    • cost without Amex card: $165 (cost per point = 0.0034)
    • cost with Amex card: $148.50 (cost per point = 0.0031)
    • max quantity per person = 1

I was able to get on this deal last year and am hoping to take advantage this year as well. I actually haven’t done anything with my points from last year, but here are the following usages of your points:

Hotel Nights: Redeem your points for a free night at any Wyndham Hotel & Resorts, Wyndham Grand Collection, Wyndham Gardens, Wingate, Hawthorne, Ramada, Days Inn, Super 8, Baymont, Microtel, Howard Johnson, Travelodge, Knights Inn, TRYP Hotels, Deam and Night Hotels

  • To redeem for a free night ranges from 6,000 points to 45,000 points
  • As an example, the Wyndham in London costs 30,000 points, so through this offer will cost you at most $102/night – which is amazing!
  • You can review the point redemption necessary for each hotel here

Airline Points: Transfer your Wyndham Reward points many airline programs (you can see the entire list here).

  • American Airlines, Delta, US Airways, United, Aeromexico, Air Berlin, Air Canada, Czech Airlines, Frontier Airlines:
    • You can transfer your Wyndham Reward points to these airlines at a rate of 2.5 points to 1 airline mile
    • For example, if you purchase 16,000 Wyndham Reward points for $49.50, for example, those can be redeemed for 6,400 miles. That is equivalent to purchasing miles at $0.0077 per miles which is pretty good!
    • You can transfer points over in increments of 8,000, 17,500, or 30,000
  • Southwest:
    • Transfers at a rate of 8,000 Wyndham Reward points = 2,400 Rapid Reward points
    • Purchasing the 16,000 Wyndham Rewards points offer (for $49.50) can give you 4,800 RR points which can then be redeemed for $80 of a “Wanna Getaway” flight
  • Amtrak:
    • Has the same transfer rate as the airlines where 2.5 Wyndham Reward points = 1 Amtrak point
    • If you purchase the 32,000 point offer for $99 this can be redeemed for 12,000 Amtrak points which can be used for 3 one-way trips on the Northeast Regional line – meaning $33 per trip (which is amazing!)

Gift Cards: If all else fails on the travel front you can redeem your Wyndham Reward points for gift cards for no loss at all with this offer.

  • Points transfer at the following increments: 1) 6,500 points = $25 Gift Card; 2) 12,500 points = $50 Gift Card; 3) 25,000 points = $100 Gift Card
  • Let’s say you are able to purchase 82,000 points, for example, for $227.70 (the 50,000 point and 32,000 point offer). This could be redeemed for $325 and give you 500 points left over in your Wyndham Rewards point

A few things to remember though:

  • These will go quick, so if you are plotting out buying multiple offers chances to reach a certain award the chances are slim and all sales are final.
  • According to my Hotel Point Expiration Rules post, points expire four years from the date they are credited to your account. Additionally, you must keep your account active with at least one qualifying activity (point earning or redemption) every 18 months. This policy is enforced (from personal experience with Mr. Deals).
  • There are no blackout dates when redeeming awards
  • Use your Amex to get 10% off – I highly recommend having an Amex card in your wallet!
  • Pre-sale starts at noon EST (follow Wyndham’s Facebook page for more info) and regular sale starts at 1pm EST

Goodluck everyone!

  • JDF said,

Anybody know if a BoA Amex will work for the discount or does it need to be a true Amex?

  • Scott said,

I’ve never flown Southwest before, so I appreciate your advice on this question. I have a trip coming up that I would prefer to book on SW due to their non-stop availability, where the price of the ticket is either $265 or 14,640 RR points. If I’m lucky enough to get 16,000, 32,000, or ideally 48,000 Wyndham points, and then transfer them to SW to use toward my flight, does that just work as a certain dollar off amount towards the cost of the flight, or does SW require that I have the full amount of points available in order to use them towards a flight? I hope that makes sense!

    Much appreciated!

  • dealswelike said,

@Scott – Absolutely makes sense. You must have the full amount of points available in order to use them towards a flight.

  • dealswelike said,

@JDF – I believe it will but am not 100% sure. I know co-branded Amex cards work, like SPG, Hilton, Macys, etc.

  • Tracy said,

Got the $76 deal! the code is 15940

  • dealswelike said,

@Tracy – That’s great! I was refreshing on the button and unfortunately couldn’t purchase. Mr. Deals, however, was able to get 28,000 points. Next try at 1pm!

  • Ryan said,

It was fast. I scored the 32,000 pts one.
The 50,000 was gone as soon as I can see the buy now button

  • Scott M. said,

Woo-hoo! Got the 50k points after hitting refresh for five minutes when someone didn’t purchase the ones in their cart.

  • Andrei said,

The way this promotion is set up is a joke. Even disregarding having to hit Buy Now and Try Again every 5 seconds like an idiot, once you get into the purchase page and fill out the billing and credit card info, it gives you a nice big fat “Something went wrong error”. It’s terrible.

  • Anon said,

Got the 50k for me and the 28k for the gf. Tried to add them all at once and got a pile of errors. Next time I’ll use 5x separate browsers.

  • dealswelike said,

They sold out within seconds. I was able to get my hands on a total of 130k. If you use the same browser they’ll error you out, found that out the hard way last year.

Congrats to everyone that got them! But I agree with some of you, it is a shame how quickly these go.

  • Bart Lapers said,

Managed to grab the 48K and 50K(Presale) packages. Happy!

  • Andrei said,

Dealswelike, would have been nice to know the separate browsers trick..

  • dealswelike said,

@Andrei – Sorry about that. Was that the issue you had with your error? I actually used two computers this time.

  • Andrei said,

dealswelike, seemed to be, since I was using separate tabs for different offers the error page mentioned clearing out cookies. Guess I’ll be better prepared next time, if this deal happens again.

  • W Brian Duncan (AKA IPBrian) said,

I scored 126K in the sale today!

  • Tracy said,

Daily getaways week 5 is posted!

  • dealswelike said,

@Tracy – Thanks for letting me know. I literally just looked 5 minutes ago and it wasn’t there – thanks!

  • Mike said,

For the people who were able to get a package today, which internet browser were you using? Also, Mac or PC?

  • dealswelike said,

@Mike – on a PC I used Firefox and IE and on my Mac I used Safari. All three worked.

  • W Brian Duncan (AKA IPBrian) said,

@mike ditto, I used firefox and ie on a pc.
