If you read Boarding Area blogs like Points, Miles & Martinis you will have seen that Cartera Commerce, who runs so many of the online shopping portals for airlines including Delta’s, offered a grand prize of 100,000 miles for clicking or shopping through the United portal.
Delta flyers have not been left out of the contest fun but we only have a chance to win 60,000 points for the grand prize. Now to be 100% fair, if you add up the points, United flyers only got a chance to win 250,000 all-in while Delta flyers get a chance to win 420,000 all-in. (The funny thing is if you read the T&C, you will find for “Approximate Retail Value” of the prizes for the United work out to 3.5 cents per mile and Delta’s only to 2 cents per miles!)
Oh how I long for the days from last year when we could shop at the other Delta shopping portal, Skymall, and earn thousands of miles. Currently Skystore, run by Skymall people, offers ZERO Skymiles for purchases. Could a promotion maybe be on the way?
I hope to let you all know if or when that may be as soon as I can! Until that time we just have to look for ways to maximize each point earned – Rene

Any skymall rumors out there?
I missed out on the giant Easter Island Head last time!
There is a 500 mile per purchase up to two on delta in their mall offer that arrived in my inbox today….
Rene, I recently found your site and love it. In a recent comment you said you didnt like citi thankyou premier. I recently got a targeted solicitation for my business for 50000 pts for their mc. I need a mc and was going to get it. Should I? I would also love to see you do an analysis on the benefits of point cards that you get award tic from and can still get ff and mqm vs delta award tix that you don’t get either
@Andy – It is a good card for what you get. The Frugal Travel guy loves his. For me, and for my needs, there are better cards. But that is me. A 50k offer is a great deal! I did 2 of the 50k old deals and turned them into Walmart gift cards for free shopping at SAMS CLUB but for ME that was real value. Sure, there is real value in buying Delta tickets and earning MQM’s with the ThankYou points. I just have too many points to need to pay for flights and have ETV’s to burn when I need to get MQM’s 😉
