Le Parker Meridien Palm Springs has a limited time Cash & Points offer for this category 5 hotel reducing the cash portion from $90 to $15 per night for weekday stays or $30 per night for weekends from July 6 through September 2, 2010. You must call 866-912-1169 to book this offer.
The $30 per night resort fee is an additional expense to keep in mind. But, you can take your dog with you this summer for just $75 per night rather than the usual $150 per night.
Here is an old 2005 review of the hotel from the NYT with hotel design details. TripAdvisor.com reviews are highly mixed between love and hate. FlyerTalk gives more detail about what to expect as an elite member and the differences between room types.
I find it interesting that one reviewer stated the hotel is geared for 60+ age group while another reviewer stated The Parker is a hotel for the 20 to 30 age group.
Unfortunately this is one of the hotels in the Palm Springs area that I did not visit on my Coachella Valley tour of hotels in 2008, so I have no first-hand knowledge of the property.
A quick check of rates shows $229 per night for Friday and Saturday July 9-11. There is 15.57% tax and resort fee so the total is $584.80 for the two weekend nights.
Cash & Points is 4,800 points plus $30 per night cash portion + $30 resort fee per night. The total comes out to just under $130 for two nights + 9,600 points.
This is a value of over $47/1,000 Starpoints using the Cash & Points option.
Remember that Cash & Points awards do not earn promotion or stay credit and no points for the cash portion of the award night. You do earn Starpoints for incidental spending and be sure to follow-up for credit since there is a chance the stay will not post to your account. (My cash & points stays in my experience are the least likely to post points for incidental spend.)
