When will registration start ? It doesn’t show me in my promotions.

  • Ric Garrido December 15, 2011

I didn’t see the registration page live either when I posted this piece. There was no indication of when the page will be ready.

A pet peeve of mine is a press release announcing a promotion before the registration page is ready for loyalty members.

It really is quite common to have to wait days from the time of the announcement to a live registration page.

Marriott has the current MegaBonus through January 15 so no real hurry since this one doesn’t start until February 1.

The main reason why I get aggravated is more than once in the past I have assumed I was registered for a promotion since I actually wrote up a piece for Loyalty Traveler.

I write about these offers and then move on to other life and realize weeks or months later that I didn’t register due to the registration page not being ready at the time I learned of the promotion.

I try not to write about offers before people can register for them.

And I try to register the first time I see an offer so I don’t miss it.

Might you be able to clarify if staying for two or more nights equals “two stays”? Or does it mean I have to stay two times on occasions separate in time? The language of the promotion is unclear for me. Thank you!

  • Lanie Cohen December 16, 2011

I would love to go on a vacation that I hven’t had for over 10 yearrs

  • Ric Garrido December 16, 2011

@Martina – a stay is consecutive nights at one hotel.

You need to stay two times. This can be different hotels or the same hotel on nonconsecutive nights.

For example I can stay at a Courtyard Friday night and check into the Residence Inn next door for Saturday night and that counts as two Marriott stays. There are many places where two or three Marriott brand hotels are directly next to each other.

Or I can stay at the Courtyard on Friday night, check out and stay again on Sunday night and that is two separate stays since they are not consecutive nights at the same hotel.

I was automatically enrolled but I got the 15 stays for 25k again. Hate that

  • Martina December 17, 2011

Thank you for the clarification and it’s good to know the example you provided. I will be staying in Memphis and there are two different hotels next to each other so I will definitely do some hopping around for the bonus! If the link to the registration comes out (unless it is automatic with Marriott rewards number), I’m sure many of us will appreciate getting heads up about it on your blog. Thanks and best wishes!

    will award stay count?

  • Ric Garrido December 19, 2011

Award stays do not count for promotion credit with Marriott.

You generally must be on a paid published rate like advance purchase, AAA, senior, corporate for discounted stays that count for promotion credit.

  • Nick December 19, 2011

50K points for 25 nights here. That’s a lot of nights.

  • John December 22, 2011

If I stay for 3 nights at the same hotel:
    – 1st night paid
    – 2nd night redeemed award
    – 3rd night paid

Will that qualify as two separate stays for the purpose of this promo?

  • Ric Garrido December 25, 2011

@John – That’s a tough one and I do not know how it would work with Marriott. Technically you are staying consecutive nights and the two nights could be merged into one stay even with the reward stay.

Any readers have Marriott Rewards experience with this situation?

My gut feeling is this would not count as two stays, but I have no experience with the situation.

That is a great question for the Marriott forum on FlyerTalk where people with more Marriott experience probably know how this works in practice.

Hotel coupons are easily accessible on website of the hotels.
This article will list some of the discounts and the companies that offer them.
However, there are a couple programs which can be cheaper than others.
