Is a posted list of participating properties too much to ask from Hyatt?
This sale does include some Hyatt Place or Hyatt House properties. I have to wonder why Hyatt does not simply post a list of participating properties for these sales?
Instead we rely on motivated blogger Scott of “Hack My Trip” to request a list of participating properties from @HyattPR to post the actual hotels offering discounts. Even then, the list provided to him by Hyatt Hotels is not ordered by geography to make it easy for a consumer to check states and cities for participating hotels.
NOTE: Scott at Hack My Trip took the time to request the participating hotels list from Hyatt and I direct you to his blog to see the 45 participating Hyatt hotels.
After seeing the list of participating hotels posted on Hack My Trip I really am surprised that Hyatt would subject people to searching for the 45 participating hotels out of about 300 in the USA, Canada and Caribbean. That is quite a waste of consumers’ time looking for hotels offering the 48 Hour Sale rates.
I would not have thought any Hyatt Place or Hyatt House properties were participating based on the Hyatt Flash Sale landing page.
A little rest and relaxation can go a long way, but the opportunity to save at Hyatt hotels and resorts, Park Hyatt and Andaz hotelsin the U.S., Canada, and Caribbean is only valid through 11:59 PM CDT October 17, 2012.
And I would have thought there would be more than one Park Hyatt and one Andaz hotel participating among all these properties in the USA.
Turns out most hotels in my part of California are not participating.
Loyalty Traveler Rate Analysis
I simply am not a fan of prepaid, nonrefundable flash sales. Unless you are booking an extended stay vacation or business trip, the savings are not typically worth the risk of nonrefundable prepayment at time of booking for a hotel stay months away.
I’ll use Hyatt Regency Monterey as a sample check of the rate discount.

The 48-hour sale offers a true 30% discount on all room categories at Hyatt Regency Monterey compared to Hyatt Daily Rate. Surprisingly the 10% discount for AAA on standard room rate is $13.90 and that same fixed discount on higher category rooms results in less than 10% savings with AAA rate.
Obviously, there are hotel room rate savings with the Hyatt 48 hour sale if prepaid, nonrefundable rates are within your risk tolerance.
