I loved the location of Alexanderplatz as central for many tourist sites, but the hotel was not close to Berlin Messe on the western side of the city for the ITB Berlin 2013 conference. The three days of the conference required about one hour each way to ride the U-bahn 45 minutes on the U2 line and then walk to the convention center.
Holiday Inn Alexanderplatz and Hotel Indigo Alexanderplatz are located in same building.
The Holiday Inn location was fine for me. I did not mind the commute since I was in the activity zone for the evenings.
And at 10,000 Priority Club points per night for Holiday Inn Alexanderplatz, the price ($70) was a great deal too considering the room rate during ITB 2013 was 130 Euros ($170 USD) per night..
Hotel Indigo Berlin is 20,000 points per night.
Rates are about 50% this week of what they were last week during the ITB Berlin travel conference. These hotels look like they are frequently under 100 Euros per night.

Alexanderplatz is a central location in Berlin for easy access to many sights. There are several chain hotels in the immediate vicinity of Alexanderplatz including the massive Park Inn by Radisson, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Radisson Blu Berlin and Ibis Styles.

Holiday Inn/Hotel Indigo are about 150 meters from Alexanderplatz one block away.
The Holiday Inn hotel lobby was comfortable and the room was fine for one person, but I would not want to stay at the Holiday Inn if traveling with my wife. There was no space in the room for two people to move around comfortably.
The bed took up almost the entire width of the room.
Comfortable bed and pillows. No clock in the room though.
The room had only one chair and I initially wondered where I would work on my computer over four days.
The cushion panel opens up to create a desk surface. The hinge was strong and the desk surface sturdy. The space was a narrow cabinet about five inches deep when closed where I stored some of my things.
I only tried to turn on the TV once during my stay and there was no signal. I didn’t really care to watch TV so I did not investigate the issue.
Sliding glass door either covered the bathroom or the closet. Generally I don’t even notice how many hangars are in a room, but this closet only had five and I needed more. There was no iron in the room.
Storage space was lacking and I kept my two bags on the floor in the entryway. The room was certainly too small for two people with luggage.
Bathroom had a container of all purpose soap that was the same as the soap in the shower.
Good shower and water pressure and temperature.
Like many rooms in Europe, the room key card needs to be inserted in a slot by the entry door to turn on the electricity in the room.

Bottom line is this hotel worked out well for me traveling alone for the ITB Conference. I would not stay here with my wife in the same size room.
I stayed at this hotel four nights and then moved to the Radisson Blu Berlin for two nights.
The Radisson Blu Berlin was definitely a top of the line experience and that hotel review will be next from this ITB Berlin 2013 travel show trip.
