Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London hotel review

Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London has prime location for stepping outside directly into the vicinity of the iconic sites of London.

View of Big Ben and Houses of Parliament from hotel room.

That’s Big Ben out the window. This is not even the preferred location for a room in the hotel, although better than many other locations in the hotel. Best location is a room on the front side, Thames River facing side of the 12-story hotel.

Clever architectural design of Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel allows room windows along the hallway on the interior atrium sides to see through the center wall of glass. The view shown in the previous Big Ben clock photo is from an interior room several rooms deep from the front of the hotel.

The river facing rooms to the sides of the atrium center glass would be even better views.

The main problem with the atrium facing rooms are the  room windows on the opposite side of the atrium get very close near the top and as you move farther away from the front. There was less than 15 feet between my window and the room window on the other side.

Inside the atrium the room windows can be very close together and the privacy feeling is quite low. Tends to make the room dark with the curtains closed.

She is different.

Do they have rooms with guy images? I am sure my wife would prefer the guy wall.

Words sprinkled like sugar on my tongue.

Big bonus at this hotel was a razor and shaving cream I needed.

Coolest feature of bathroom was night light.

The connectivity panel was another big plus for the room. The panel offered dedicated US and mainland Europe plug outlets.

Connectivity Panel makes UK plug adaptor unnecessary for US and Euro plugs.

The number one complaint I had about the hotel stay is the room smelled strongly of smoke.

After seeing this sign on the desk about a 150 GBP fee for smoking in the room, I made sure to ask the hotel receptionist to note my complaint that the room smelled like smoke.

I was offered another room, but it sounded like a less desirable location. I wanted to be on the streets of London and not spending more time in the hotel changing rooms.

The hotel had an ice machine near my 10th floor room making this the second hotel in Europe where I saw ice machines. The other was Radisson Blu Plaza Oslo. Ice machines are not common for hotels in Europe.

Hallway on guest floor 10.

The lobby and restaurants were quite busy at midnight and 9am and the entire time I was there.

When I was offered another room at the hotel I was told the hotel was near full occupancy.

My quickness allows me to show the hotel looking empty.

There was no Business Class breakfast upgrade at this hotel. There was a tray of nuts and figs and that made my continental breakfast sufficient for a ride on the London Eye and a three hour hour walk around Westminster before jetting back to the USA.

This hotel stay was another great value award stay from 50,000 Club Carlson points earned at low cost over the past two years through their generous pre-credit card launch promotions.

Thanks for the review. How was the gold status recognition? The hotel location is great but the hotel rooms are not impressive. Is this the same way with other park plazas? I’d prefer the new country inn decor any day over this.

I have stayed at this hotel, though in a lower category inside room with no view at all. The biggest problem was a very weak Internet Wi-Fi signal.

I just stayed at the plaza on the river suites/residences. Had similar issue with others smoke. Was offered better room which we took. Big hassle, but they took care of room change. Wifi not good. We bought apple airport express. So I could log on. I just cannot enjoy $22 breakfasts even if my room is free. Redeemed 6 nights from SOGO. Great value. Got the CC CC so I could get my 2nd back. Also great value.

    @saurabh

I love this hotel now after 3 stays

That said this is a tourist hotel, seems near permanently full so gold recognition non existant for me except shorter line for check in

Spent 3 nights here last Summer using F&F rate.
Very busy Hotel, liked the modern ambiance, breakfast was not up to the quality of the Radisson Blu Portman Sqr on the same trip, although the rooms at Pk Plaza are so much better.
Next week will be at Pk Plaza County Hall – (next door to this property) and Radisson Blu London Stansted airport.

Took advantage of the Carlson promo 50k points x 3 partners last year, also the CC Visa Sig card sign up bonus’s are attractive.

Carlson have really upped their game, the Starwood choices in London are over priced and tired, so its good to try other options.
