Same promotion, different pitch from Choice Privileges. Basically Choice Privileges runs the same promotion over and over for 8,000 points, yet sometimes the offer is disguised as a $50 gift card. No disguises this time around.

Choice Privileges gives 8,000 points after two qualifying stays. This offer does not give 8,000 bonus points, but instead gives bonus points after two stays to reach a total of 8,000 points.

Promotion registration is required for US and Canada residents. Residents of Europe, Mexico, Caribbean and Central America are eligible for this offer with no promotion registration required.

What actually happens is after two eligible paid stays the Choice Privileges member receives bonus points added to base points earned for the two paid stays to reach 8,000 total points. Generally there is a minimum bonus of 5,000 points for members who earn more than 3,000 base points from the two paid hotel stays ($300 to $600 in spend.)

Assume two stays at $75 per night room rate in Quality Inn and Comfort Inn. $150 hotel spend earns 1,500 points. Bonus will be 6,500 points to reach 8,000 total points after two stays.

These Choice Hotels brands earn 10 points per $1:

  • Comfort Inn
  • Comfort Suites
  • Quality
  • Sleep Inn
  • Clarion
  • Cambria Suites
  • Ascend Hotel Collection hotels

Qualifying stays must be a minimum of two consecutive nights at:

  • Econo Lodge
  • Rodeway Inn
  • Suburban Extended Stay Hotel
  • MainStay Suites hotels

These four economy segment brands earn only 5 base points per $1.

All Choice Hotels properties globally are participating (except Nordic Choice countries which have their own separate loyalty program).

Stays at all hotels included in the Choice Privileges program will count towards the promotion, as long as a qualifying trip is booked at ChoiceHotels.com, your mobile device or 800.4CHOICE.

Seasonal Reward Night Levels

Choice Privileges changes reward night levels seasonally. One of the best values in the Choice Privileges program are dozens of international hotels that seasonally drop to 8,000 points. There are typically about 1,500 out of 6,000 hotels worldwide at the 6,000 or 8,000 points level during any season.

  1. Hi Ric,

What would 8k points worth? A free night of stay or two in one of their properties?

    Thank You,
    Ben.

  2. There are typically about 1,500 out of 6,000 hotels worldwide at the 6,000 or 8,000 points level during any season.

Some of these hotels at 8,000 points have rates over $200 USD per night. Typically 8,000 points will be worth $50 to $75 for a hotel reward at the 16,000 level in the USA.

International hotels is where the high value redemption options save more.

  3. Thank You, Ric!

  4. @Ben

The way I look at it…you get roughly 8,000 pts for 2 separate stays. If you spend more than $300 for those 2 stays the points beomes 5,000 on top of what you paid.

Generally 8,000 pts hotels are going to be the econolodges or rodeways. You can find some 8,000 pts hotels in europe for off season travel.

If you can get around 16,000-24,000 points you can get a decent free night somewhere with the retail price being around $150-$200.

thus 4 or 6 separate 1 night stays would give you enough points for a decent place for one night.

Choice hotels point system varies by the season.

In terms of these promos. Marriott is one of the best with the two stays=1 free night and best western runs a stay 3 times = 1 free night. Best western free night isnt restrictive like Marriot. Marriott limitsto cat 1-4 (or 5). Best Western allows you to stay at any hotel if its available. Marriott you could earn 2-3 free nights per peeriod while BW only allows one. With Choice the points you earn iappears to be unlimited.

  5. Thanks, DJP. I think Marriott seems to be a better option after reading your post.

    Regards,
    Ben.

  6. Hello, can you book two stays back to back? Let’s say you book October 4th and checkout October 7th, and then you book October 7th to October 10th (same person), would it still be valid for the promotion? Would the hotel join the stays and allow you to be in the same room, but still keep you in the promotion?

And uf you use a prepaid fare, would the points be available inmediately after you pay or you would still need to checkin and checkout for them to be available?

    Thanks!

  7. @Ignacio – You must have a break of at least one night for two hotel stays to count. You can book two different reservations for tonight and tomorrow night, but all hotel loyalty programs have a rule saying consecutive nights in a loyalty member’s name count as one stay.

Two common ways to get around that:

    1. Book Monday night at a Choice Hotel, stay somewhere else Tuesday night and return to the first hotel on Wednesday night. That counts as two stays. And if Tuesday is a different Choice Hotel, then that is three stays in three nights.

    2. When traveling with another adult you can book Monday night at Choice Hotel in your name, Tuesday night in other guest’s name, Wednesday night in your name. You get two stays.

Just be sure to check out and other person check-in each day. This keeps you in same hotel, but not necessarily same room unless you let front desk know what you are doing and ask for same room.

Still you want to be sure and physically check out each day and let second guest check in to avoid the stays being combined by some bored front desk clerk trying to simplify your reservations.

You only get points after completing your hotel stay and it can take one to two weeks.
