Hotel Review: Hyatt Place Denver Cherry Creek

Hyatt Place Denver Cherry Creek opened October 2 as a rebrand from the former Loews Denver Hotel. This Hyatt Place looked different from all the other cookie cutter Hyatt Place hotels I have stayed. The lobby is far more spacious than the typical Hyatt Place with high ceilings, a business center area with three computers and printer in an alcove in one corner, two seating areas and large breakfast area with about a dozen tables. The bar is adjacent to the check-in counter and separate from the breakfast area.

Hyatt Place Denver Cherry Creek is only the dark 11-story building with 192 guest rooms, even though the large Hyatt Place sign located at the top of the light colored taller building can be seen for miles.

Another difference from the typical cookie cutter Hyatt Place design is this rebrand hotel has no swimming pool. There is a small fitness room.

The room design was similar to other Hyatt Place rooms I have stayed except for no divider wall was present between the bed and seating area. The room was a standard hotel room with the difference being the couch common to Hyatt Place rooms.

One aspect of the hotel stay that surprised me was being located on the eastern view side of the hotel. Sure that was the room I booked, but I can’t remember the last time I did not receive a complimentary upgrade to the view side of the hotel.

The western view looks out to the Rocky Mountain skyline and downtown Denver about seven miles to the northwest.

The room had a 42-inch flat screen TV and the bathroom had a large shower stall with no tub.

Breakfast 6:30-9:30am weekdays; 7:00-10:00am Sat-Sun.

There was a nice spread for breakfast with HP Signature sandwiches and pancakes or French toast on alternating days of our stay.

The Hyatt Place sandwich is an egg, ham and cheese.

No pictures of the Hyatt Place bar. The activity seemed good for a hotel bar when we arrived each evening. In the morning on weekdays, the guests seemed to be primarily business people. Lots of smartly dressed young men and women working laptops and smartphones during breakfast.

Cherry Creek Denver is the upscale shopping area for Denver with Cherry Creek Mall about one mile from the hotel. Kelley enjoyed shopping at the Nordstrom Rack discount store on Colorado Blvd.

Cherry Creek is a nice area for walking around to visit boutique shops and a variety of restaurants and bars.

I guess you can take your kid somewhere else to swim.

Hyatt Place Denver Cherry Creek Room Rates:

The rates looked reasonable for this hotel when I checked to find AAA rates for a Saturday night at $89.25. But then I found the rate was only $68 on Hotels.com. I filed a Hyatt Best Rate Guarantee claim over the phone and my room rate was reduced to $54 for the reservation.

The rate was $131 on Sunday and Monday nights on Hyatt.com or 8,000 points per night for this category 2 hotel. Again Hotels.com offered a Grand Opening Rate of $85 per night. I filed a Best Rate Guarantee and my room rate was reduced by 20% to $68 per night.

My total rate was reduced from $351 to $190 for three nights, before 15% tax.
