Hyatt Regency Minneapolis hotel review

Five nights in the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis gave me plenty of time to experience the property over the long President’s Day holiday weekend. This was an opportunity to use one of my Hyatt Diamond member suite upgrades, so there was a King Room with an attached suite. This is my Hyatt Regency Minneapolis hotel review with photos.

King Bedroom

Sofa and chair in ths bedroom were nice features providing plenty of seating options.

TV and desk. Wireless internet worked well for my iPad.

Bathroom only has shower stall with no adjustment for the shower head. Good water flow.

The Suite Room

I stayed in room 2410 (bedroom) and there were two adjacent doors for the suite.

I spent most of my time in the suite sitting room, except when sleeping.The couch was a bit hard, but I spent several hours working there anyway.

The suite had a bathroom with a tub.

Refrigerator was on extra cold and kept the beer chilled, not frozen. Keurig coffee maker had 4 coffee pods, 4 decaf, and 4 tea pods. Wine glasses on the wall.

Fitness Center

Hyatt Regency Minneapolis has an extensive fitness center with basketball court, dance studio, exercise equipment, indoor pool, weight rooms and more. These were the largest workout spaces I have seen inside a hotel.

Regency Club on 22nd floor

The Regency Club on the 22nd floor offered breakfast and evening hors-d’oeuvres.

The room seemed too small for a hotel this size and there was only one table with regular chairs to sit and eat. Most of the seating was bar stool type on two walls.

The Regency Club was no larger than my suite which had seating for 17 people.

There were three or four concierge attendants during the course of my stay and they all seemed helpful and attentive. The lounge evening hours were only 5pm to 8pm. Breakfast was 6:30am to 9:30am Mon-Fri and 7:00am to 10:00am Sat-Sun and holidays.

I paid for the breakfast buffet one morning to get hot food at Prairie Restaurant and that cost $22 after tax and tip. There was no hot food in the Regency Lounge for breakfast.

Between reception and the six elevators to the guest floors was a hotel market.

The front desk and concierge station consisted of four large blocks of granite.

The location of the hotel at 12th Street on Nicollet Mall near the Convention Center appeared to be on the dividing line between downtown and residential streets. One of the advantages of the location was a variety of ethnic restaurants nearby in the area known as Eat Street. I regularly ordered takeaway from Asian Taste across the street from the Hyatt with $5 lunch specials.

Several readers commented that the Starwood Hotels in town with The Ivy Luxury Collection, W Minneapolis – Foshay, Westin Minneapolis and Le Meridien Chambers Minneapolis are superior hotels. I visited three of these and the rooms were very nice with better furniture than the Hyatt Regency.

The reason I chose the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis is I had a successful Best Rate Guarantee claim for this stay and my nightly rate was $68.24 after tax for five nights.
