Looks like United MileagePlus Shopping wants to celebrate the New Year with a new promo. If you spend $75 at a single eligible retailer from 1/1/12 – 1/31/12 you will receive 500 bonus miles. While Ultimate Rewards is now my go-to shopping portal, I would be willing to shift a $75 purchase to MileagePlus in order to get a 500 mile bonus.
I have recently found this shopping portal to be improved in terms of tracking and reporting, even with bonuses. For example, I participated in the promo in October that awarded 1,500 bonus miles for single purchase of $125 or more on both my and my husband’s account. I also participated in a promo where you received 500 bonus miles for downloading and using the MileagePlus Shopping Assistant. When I go to look at my MileagePlus shopping account I see that the bonus miles for both of those promos posted in a relatively timely fashion and without me having to go chasing after them. Woohoo!
The not so good news is that I can’t find those transactions reflected in either of my OnePass or MileagePlus accounts. For that matter, I don’t have any of the transactions from the past month, so it is likely that these transactions go over at set intervals to the frequent flyer accounts. I know I have seen individual transactions post before, I am not 100% sure how the process works, but a monthly batch looks likely to me. I am sure that I will be keeping a close eye on this in the coming weeks (mostly because I am really needing some miles to post so I can book an award ticket I have my eye on!). At the very least I am happy to see that the promo participation was recorded correctly on the MileagePlus Shopping side of things.
