If you read this post, you are probably already aware that I missed out on the beginning of the MegaDO due to some flight delays getting from Houston to Dallas. That meant that I missed the big announcement about Hyatt’s first promo of 2012. However, I was lucky enough to chat with a Hyatt executive to get caught up on the promo after I arrived. So, between The Point’s Guy’s great tweets from the event, and catching up with Hyatt once I got on the ground, I am excited to share the details that I learned about the first Hyatt promo of the year.
This promo will run from February 1 – April 30th 2012.
The promo is tiered, so that means after every four nights you earn an additional set of bonus points. If you have the Chase Hyatt card then you are rewarded with some additional bonus points.
Stay 4 Nights, Earn 4,000 Bonus Points (1,000 Bonus Points with Hyatt Visa)
Stay 8 Nights, Earn 8,000 additional Bonus Points (2,000 Bonus Points with Hyatt Visa)
Stay 12 Nights, Earn 12,000 additional Bonus Points (3,000 Bonus Points with Hyatt Visa)
Stay 16 Nights, Earn 20,000 additional Bonus Points (5,000 Bonus Points with Hyatt Visa)
So, if you stay at a Hyatt hotel for 16 nights during the next three months, you will earn 44,000 bonus Hyatt Gold Passport points. I do like that this promo is based on nights and not stays. I also like that it is a cumulative bonus, so the points really start to add up once you rack up a decent number of stays. This promo works out well if you are like my husband and have many nights away for business this time of year. However, this promo doesn’t really work very well if you are looking for a promotion where you can complete stays purely to rack up free stays to use on vacation (a la Hyatt Faster Free Nights style).
We will have to wait for the official Hyatt announcement to learn all of the exact terms and conditions, but at least we have a preview of what is coming down the pipeline from Hyatt. This promo certainly isn’t overly exciting, but since we haven’t had a real Hyatt promo since mid-November, it is better than nothing. I know my husband’s Hyatt Gold Passport account will benefit from this promo, but I will personally be doing good to just have four nights during the promo.
So, what do you think? Will this promo work for your travel plans?
