I’ve been waiting
patiently anxiously for this new Priority Club PointBreaks list for a few days now, so was happy to see it released from the Priority Club vault this morning. These are typically released on a quarterly schedule. PointBreaks are one of the very best deals in the hotel points world. They allow a room to be booked for just 5,000 points per night. Priority Club points can be obtained very cheaply, so 5,000 points is almost nothing in the Priority Club world. A little while back I had three rooms for family members booked on a PointsBreak rate at a Crowne Plaza for the weekend. It was just almost embarrassing how great of a deal we got for just 30,000 points total for the three rooms on that trip, so I have been hooked on PointBreaks ever since.
Some tips about PointBreaks:
- They go very quickly – do not delay, book now. You can always cancel later, usually until about a day before the reservation.
- Valid for bookings through May 31st.
- If you don’t have 5,000 Priority Club points, you can transfer them in from American Express Membership Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards. I normally don’t recommend that transfer, but it can be worth it for PointBreaks. You can also google “Priority Club points for .6 cents” and get back some potentially helpful information for obtaining Priority Club points in a very inexpensive manner.
- Did I mention book quickly? Many of the best hotel options will be gone very quickly.
Here is a just a quick example of how great PointBreaks are. I have some travel plans that may take me to the DC area soon, so I clicked on the Crowne Plaza Dulles Airport just to see what it was like. Not the most exciting destination in the world, but sometimes travel isn’t glamorous.
If your plans line up with PointBreaks availability at that hotel, then the room can be yours for just 5,000 points.
If not, the price of the room jumps to 25,000 points – 5x the discounted rate.
With cash, the room is going for $189, so the value per point on a PointsBreak night is pretty great, even for Priority Club Points.
Here is a list of the participating US properties. There are participating properties all over the world, so for locations outside of the US, head over to the Priority Club website and see what is available. Let me know if any PointBreak nights are going to work for your family!
