I am excited to share that some details regarding the April 2013 Frequent Traveler University have been announced. Last April this event was held in Newark, there is one coming up in LA in December, and in April 2013 the event will head to the Washington DC area. Typically these events span from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon, and include a variety of different speakers from the miles and points world on topics such as award booking, credit cards, elite status, mileage runs, and more. Miles and points beginners can certainly learn a few tricks at these events, but even old pros almost always walk away learning something new…if not in the actual sessions, then from the extensive networking that goes on during the event.
The exact speakers and topics have not been announced at this time (though I can confirm I will be presenting), but the dates and location are now available.
What: Frequent Traveler University
When: April 26th – April 28th 2013
Where: Hilton McLean Tysons Corner (between Dulles and Reagan airports)
Why: Um, let me count the reasons. It’s fun, it’s informative, it’s actually a pretty nice hotel, you can put your Hilton Gold benefits to good use, there will reportedly be a good group rate, I’m sure there will be alcohol available, you can meet other folks as into miles and points as you, etc. Really the reasons are (almost) endless.
Cost: The cost has not yet been announced, but historically prices for these sort of events have been around $100 for the weekend. It may be a little more or a little less this time around. The hotel has rates that weekend for around $100, so I would expect the group rate to come in at or below that amount per night. Basically, it is a pretty affordable way to spend a weekend!
You can stay tuned to this Milepoint thread for all the details as they are released, but for now just mark your calendars if you are interested in attending. I hope to see you there!
