It’s been over 100 degrees in Houston some days this past week, and it is basically miserable – you know, normal August weather on the Gulf Coast. When I saw flights today to Anchorage, Alaska for around $400 round trip I was immediately interested (the temp is currently 57 degrees in Anchorage). In fact, there are some very good deals to Anchorage that have been popping up from cities all over the country, so check your city even if you don’t live in Houston.
I first saw this deal via @airfarewatchdog and the example they gave was $399 for round trip non-stop flights on United that leave this afternoon! That would be super exciting to book a trip to Alaska that leaves today, but I’m not able to be quite that spontaneous. However, I just put one on hold for next summer since I need to plan ahead a bit more than leaving in three hours. The one I snagged was about $410 RT and was not non-stop, but it was on United. Sure hope Little C wants to head north!
I actually want to go to Alaska, but even if you just wanted a good fare, this is a little over 6 cents per mile, which is very good for United fares out of Houston. For best results, I would use the “My Dates Are Flexible” option on United.com. I doubt these will last long, so don’t delay if you want to book a ticket out of the Texas heat!
