Yesterday I was lucky enough to be able to present at the Frequent Traveler University in Tampa with Ed from Pizza in Motion. We had several people ask if they could get a copy of the presentation, and we promised to put them online for anyone to see. Our presentations are a little “slide heavy” so you may be able to get a decent sense of what was discussed by taking a look at them. However, much of the presentation is what is said, not what is written on the slides, so feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Click on the links below to view the two different presentations.
These type of events are pretty much always a good time, so I hope that if you have interest in meeting other miles and points fans and chatting (or hearing) about all things travel in person, that you will come out to a future event. I am also presenting at the Chicago Seminars in Chicago in October about Miles and Points for Beginners with Daraius from Million Mile Secrets, and then hosting a session for the spouses and partners of miles and points aficionados.
That conference has been held in Chicago each October for the last several years. The Frequent Traveler University sessions move around to different locations, and have recently been in cities like Tampa, Washington DC, the Meadowlands, and LA. These sessions have been happening twice a year. There is usually one FTU held in April right after the annual Freddie Awards, and then another in the early fall.
One of the greatest things at each event are the people that you meet. There were folks going on Vanilla Reload scavenger hunts, grouping together to try out some of Tampa’s yummiest restaurants, hanging out at the hotel pool, going out on boat rides, and more.
Not only can you make contacts who will keep you in the loop on some of the best travel deals out there, but you may also make a few friends.
On this particular trip, I missed out on most of the “after hours” fun due to flying home as soon as my sessions were finished…in this case, I think I made the right call, but I’m always looking forward to the next event!
