Update: United has matched from Delta hubs including Atlanta, Detroit, Salt Lake, and more.  Thanks @theflightdeal for staying on top of this Aloha Fare War!

Just a quick FYI that there is lots of good deals on tickets to Honolulu for about $400 round trip circulating again today via Delta from United hubs like Newark, Denver, and Houston.  I’ve seen availability through roughly the end of the schedule next year, so basically wide open.  Like always, these will likely last hours, not days.  I share these cash deals from time to time as this can be a better deal than booking on traditional airlines miles.  For example, you can use the 40,000 miles from the sign-up bonus via the Barclaycard Arrival(TM) World MasterCard® – Earn 2x on All Purchases to “pay yourself back” for the roughly $400 ticket charged on that card and then still miles on the trip and not be tied to award availability.  You will also get 10% of the redeemed miles back!

Hawaii Deal

I use ITA Matrix to search for the low fares a month at a time, and then go directly to book via Delta or your favorite booking engine.  Book fast if this is something that is interesting to you!  Personally, I am not jumping as I want to fly on United when we return to Hawaii so I can use confirmed upgrades and earn United miles.  That said, this is still a tempting deal since it is from the right airport and available at a time that I actually want to go.

Anyone jumping on one of these deals today?

  1. Thanks mommypoints! I just booked three tickets for my adult parents and I to HNL for my birthday. Maybe we will hop over to Maui for a couple of nights at the Andaz (on points of course). I purchased trip insurance (not sure how smart that was) because the trip is so far out May 2014. Hopefully it just buys me peace of mind and I won’t need to use it!

    I really hope United matches!

Vivek, if they did it would likely be at some Delta hubs, so still wouldn’t help me but hopefully it would help you!

Need a United deal from a United hub, preferably DEN I’ve been putting off booking in the hopes of DEQM.

This works great for me to book 2 one-way tickets from Honolulu to Newark for my adult parents for next month for $432. My parents had already redeemed AA miles to fly to Honolulu the week before their cruise, but we didn’t know how they would be getting back to New York cheaply until today, so this works great. Flights originating in Honolulu tend to be more expensive than flights going to Honolulu, but not in this case – $216 is a great price!
