Ritz-Carlton Rewards has announced a pretty lucrative summer promotion, which will be valid for stays between July 1 and October 31, 2013.

Through this promotion you earn one complimentary night at a tier 1-3 Ritz-Carlton after making two stays. You can earn a maximum of two free nights through the promotion. Registration for the promotion is required prior to September 30 for accounts created before June 4, 2013. Accounts created on or after June 4 are automatically registered for the promotion. The free night certificates will be deposited in eligible accounts within 3-5 business days of the second stay, and are valid for a year.

Interestingly the terms and conditions state that “the member receiving this offer has been specifically targeted,” though I think it’s safe to assume that’s not the case since the promotion shows up on the front page of Ritz-Carlton’s website.

You can find a listing of hotel categories here, so you can see the tier 1-3 properties that these nights can be redeemed at, which usually go for 30,000-50,000 points per night.

This can be a really good deal for some properties. For example, the Ritz-Carlton Moscow is a tier 3 property so you can redeem your free night certificates there. Some days the best available rate for a standard room is $1,000USD per night with tax.

    @Lucky,
Marriott is currently running a prmotion until Sept 2, 2013 of “2 stays for 1 free night” at Cat 4 or 5 hotels. I think we can combine these two promotions together for our stays July through Sept, am I right?

@ Andy — You can only be a member of either the Marriott Rewards or Ritz-Carlton Rewards program, but not both. This promotion is only valid for Ritz-Carlton properties as well.

@ Lucky — On a two night stay if you break the stay into two separate reservations would this work?

(or what if you had an award night sandwiched in between two revenue night stays – which make 3 nights in a row?)

So just to be clear…if we are already a member of Marriott’s program (and currently working on the unexpected bonus of 45k points after 25 nights), there is no way for us to take advantage of this one? I’d much rather take advantage of this instead of the unexpected bonus because I stay at a Ritz every week.

    Answered my own question:

“Members of The Ritz – Carlton Rewards program as of June 4, 2013, and new members who were not previously members of the Marriott Rewards® program are eligible to receive this offer.”

@ JRL — Two nights back-to-back wouldn’t qualify, even if on separate reservations. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if two revenue rates separated by an award night would qualify (even though they technically shouldn’t).

Do you think a stay booked through AMEX Fine Hotels would count?

What are some of the cheaper Ritz’s to maximize this, if even possible?

As a member of the Ritz Rewards program, I haven able to participate in Ritz promos and Mariott promos at the same time. They both work, even during a promotional overlap period.

@ Randy — If you go to this page you can see the tier 1 Ritz properties, which are typically also among the cheapest on paid stays:

@ DeltaTraveler — If you’re a member you can participate, but keep in mind you’re only supposed to be a member of one program per the T&Cs.

Would booking 2 rooms for the same dates count as 2 stays?

@Lucky Great point. What I should have said was, I am a member of only the Ritz Rewards program, but Marriott will let me take part in their promos as well using my Ritz Rewards number. I don’t believe it works vice versa.

I have had the Marriott Cat 1-4 and Cat 1-5 certificates (from the last and this current promo) posted to my Ritz Rewards account in addition to participating in last year’s Ritz free night certificate promo as well.

    @ RCStar — I don’t believe so, unfortunately.
