The Chase Freedom® Card is a no annual fee credit card that offers 5x points in rotating quarterly categories. You can earn the 5x points for up $1,500 in spend per quarter, meaning “maxing” out the bonuses each quarter you’d earn a total of 30,000 points per year.
Anyway, they do make you “opt in” to earning the bonuses each quarter, and registration just opened today for their fourth quarter bonus categories, valid October 1 through December 31, 2013. These categories are as follows:
I’m sure these are popular categories for many given that Amazon is on the list, along with select department stores, a list of which can be found here.
Each point can be redeemed for one cent cash back, though if you link your card to one that accrues Ultimate Rewards points (like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Ink Bold® Business Card and Ink Plus® Business Card), these can be used as “premium” Ultimate Rewards points and transferred to partner airlines and hotel programs. I need to apply for the Chase Freedom sometime soon as I still don’t have it — so many other great Chase offers out there.
(In the interest of full disclosure, I earn a referral bonus for anyone approved through the above links. All are for the best available offers. Thanks for your support!)
