Delta Confirms Comp Gold Status Soft Landing…but what about my bonus miles?

by Adam

Yesterday, I received the letter below in the mail from Delta confirming my complimentary Gold status for 2014. I made a conscious effort in 2013 to move a lot of my business related flying away from Delta and as such my 2013 MQMs fell just short of Gold Medallion status at 48,287. I made no effort to book an easy and cheap flight to hit gold and there was no way I was purchasing any MQMs.

When the status first posted and I saw no rollover MQMs, I first started to speculate that Delta had granted me a soft landing for 2014-2015 and would not be posting any rollover miles to my account. Now, about two months ago we learned that Delta was no longer awarding bonus miles for status matched elites and so this might actually be a negative for me. However, the letter does clearly state that “Medallion mileage bonuses” are one of the benefits…so we’ll have to wait and see.
