Here is a quick update on the bump voucher turn of events this evening. Turns out I have one more lesson learned to share about getting bumped for airline dollars.
Earlier tonight I planned for a bump and executed flawlessly to get the $400 in Delta cash. After the bump, I headed back to the lounge to settle in for my three hour job making $400 by watching the NCAA tournament and downing a few cold ones. But something just didn’t seem right.

It turned out that even though I was issued a boarding pass on the next flight, the reservation wasn’t showing in my account. What could it be?
I called the Delta desk and they said I was confirmed on the two flights earlier flight. It turns out that I was confirmed from the stand by list after the doors were closed and after I headed back to the lounge. So when the agent bumped me off my confirmed flight, my reservation was showing me already departed but the boarding pass printed. I essentially didn’t have a ticket home at this point.
Thankfully I found out early. I was able to get another coach seat confirmed and was placed on the upgrade list.
Bottom Line
I’m happy to report that all of the effort resulted in $400 in Delta vouchers, free $20 in food at the restaurant, and best of all the upgrade cleared for the last flight of the day.
Life is good when travel plans work out the way they should. For all the other times you can only roll with the punches.

Sometimes the delay is spent in the lounge, so I’ve tried finding creative uses for the $10 “food” vouchers. They can be spent at any “food-ish” outlet, so I have landed carrying a bag of cookies or muffins, or a pound of Starbucks beans. Made sense when dinner was waiting at home.
Hi Colleen – Great idea on te starbucks. I always make a stop by one of the duty free stores in hopes they take the certs, but they never do. I usually get starbucks mints, cookies and pre-packaged bisquits.

The $18 meal vouchers I received in the fine print mentioned they were usable for ground transportation. I had to tell the guy at the taxi stand that I was paying with Delta vouchers and he looked on a list in his pocket of which cab companies accepted the voucher. It was really nice because I had just eaten before getting bumped and had no use for a meal voucher.
