Changes To New 50,000 Offer Begin Tomorrow - Points Miles and Martinis

A few weeks ago, I mentioned how the sky is not falling with the Chase credit card sign up bonuses. We shared how the New Ink Bold offer was staying at 50,000 points even though the Sapphire Preferred offer was being lowered to a 40,000 point offer.

The current offer will be removed on Wednesday, April 18 at 10 AM. The new offer will still be 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points, but the spending requirement is rumored to increase to $10,000 up from only $5,000. So if you were on the fence, applying before tomorrow will make the bonus more achievable by $5,000 less in spending. This follows the recent trend of Chase decreasing the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and the Freedom Mastercard to $100 from $200 cash back.

Transfer Partners

Transfer Partners include a number of airline and hotel partners. I don’t see equal value in transferring between these programs, so it would be nice to see transfer bonuses in the future. All partners allow transfers at a 1:1 ratio. Transfer Partners include:

  • Amtrak
  • British Airways
  • United Airlines
  • Hyatt Gold Passport
  • Priority Club
  • Korean Airlines
  • Marriott
  • Southwest

Bottom Line

The Chase Ultimate Rewards program is a good program because of the transfer partners and bonus spending categories. We already picked up the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (now only 40k), the Chase Freedom for $200 cash back (now only $100) and 5% cash back earning, and have recently picked up the Ink Bold for a 50k bonus.

Even Alex got in on the New Ink Bold action with an approval today for the 50k after only $5,000 in spending. He got the following message after applying and sending a secure message to Chase.

We are pleased to inform you that your recent request for
a new Chase Mastercard Business Platinum credit card
account has been approved with a $x,xxx,xxx.00 credit line.
You will receive your new card(s) and welcome package
including account benefits, ATM PIN access information and
checks that access your account under separate cover
within the next 10 business days.

If you have any questions, please contact one of our
representatives 1-888-245-0625. For your convenience, we
are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to
10:00 p.m., Eastern Time.

If you apply and are not instantly approved, try calling Chase to get them to help process or reconsider your application.

So if you were on the fence about the New Ink Bold, and a potential higher spend threshold is an issue, now may be the time to apply for the New Ink Bold with the lower spending requirement offer.

Hi Arizona Guy – I hear you, but we considered that the information could impact some folks ability to meet the spend requirement. And we’ve heard from a few folks recently (via email) about this very card. Appreciate your feedback and thanks for reading.

Hi Andrew – Glad someone noticed it :D
