US Airways has a limited time (potentially targeted) 90% bonus on purchased miles. You can purchase a business class fare to North Asia for only $1,881 through this promotion. This can be a great way to pick up enough miles for award tickets at a cost less than the market value of the tickets themselves.

Bottom Line

This may be a targeted promotion so your experience may vary. But we are 100% successful for every person we tried this promotion with. Do you qualify for the promotion?

I’m never a fan of buying miles for buying miles sake. But you can get a business class ticket to North Asia (only 90,000 miles on partner airline), and can almost US Airways business class ticket to Europe (requires 100,000 miles) with this promotion. Not such a bad deal if you are staring at the barrel of a $4,000+ business class ticket to Asia.

How would you use the miles? Are there any better uses for the miles than a business class ticket to North Asia on a Star Alliance partner?

  1. Hi Mark – Yes, but I don’t see a 100% bonus at this time. So if you are looking at a high priced ticket NOW, this may be a good deal for that person.

  2. Hi Fabio – So that means it is targeted to only select accounts. Since you have to log into your US Airways account to access the deal terms, and you didn’t get it, this means it is targeting selected individuals.

So far we have 2 confirmed that received the deal (Me & Alex) and 1 confirmed that did not receive the deal.

  3. I got an e-mail offering an 80% match, and when I clicked the link it told me it was non-transferable.

  4. zero status……….but I get the 90% bonus. have bought miles last year and used award flight to ANU this year, if that helps

  5. I didn’t get the email from them (yet?) however MrsBothofUS2 did and it was for a 90% bonus. So it appears to be variable since @Larry above indicated 80% match showed for him. Not sure whether it’s worth jumping onto this one even at 90%, since I’ve seen 100% deals in the past also.

  6. Hi Jethro – Is helpful, thank you. Good to know there are others who got the 90% offer. Great job redeeming to ANU.

BothofUs2 – So we now have a 4 90% offers received, 1 80% offer received, and 1 no offer received.

  7. I’m wondering if this has something to do to the fact that I already purchased over 150,000 miles on the past year through promotions.

  8. I received a 100% bonus.

We have an exclusive offer just for you
Buy miles and get a 100% bonus*

We’ve specially selected you to receive a 100% bonus. All you have to do is buy miles May 1 – 15, 2012, and you’ll automatically receive your bonus. This offer is exclusively for you and is non-transferrable.

I don’t have any status, nor I have ever flown with US Air. I do have the Barclays card though.

    Here are the terms:

*This 100% Bonus offer is exclusive to you and is available for purchases made between May 1 – 15, 2012, 11:59 MT. This offer is non transferrable. Bonus miles will be awarded upon completion of the transaction. The maximum number of Buy miles that can be purchased by one member with this offer is 50,000 bonus miles. All miles purchased beyond 50,000 miles will not be eligible for a bonus. Offer is subject to change. Offer cannot be combined with any other offer. 9. I manage 4 family accounts: 2 got the 80% offer, the other 2 accounts got nothing!

  10. Hi Fabio – Sorry you got a goose egg.

Hi Corridor – So there is a 100% bonus offer out there. Good news!!

Hi Worldtraveller2 – Thanks for sharing. 80% is better than nothing…if you need to buy miles.

  11. I just booked my parents on lufthansa business class from san francisco to italy for 100,000 US miles each. they depart this friday, and economy tickets were $1700+.

    good deal!

  12. I got 100%, but don’t need anymore miles at this time (current balance is 275K).

  13. I got the 90% deal, have the card and have never bought miles so I’m def thinking. I wish it were like some websites in booking w partners. US doesn’t fly where I’m wanting but *A does. Can I call and put on hold and then buy miles, as gleff has always recommended.

  14. Thanks much. I’ve never called to buy a reward since I mainly use AA and it’s so easy.

  15. U need to search rewards then call to book us air!!! Military guy here, just got notice that I’m deploying 27june, after some research, I made two calls. 1. Alaska air; canceled two rewards tickets home to Alaska to introduce my family to my girlfriend of 2.5 years( u know what that means!) they were great, sent them my orders and full refund #2 was to US air; saver ticket from Bangor Maine(expensive) to San diego with the girls while I’m away. 32.5k us miles. I have the us air card. 37.5k original. Fly there Econ, back in first, same price as econ back if I didn’t call and ask. US miles!!! I will buy them for 2cents all day long!

  16. I’m dissapointed you don’t clearly put the cents per mile on the post! I’m trying to quickly scan through several blog posts before bed. This caught my eye, but the bottom line for me is the cpm cost. I don’t need/want to read the whole post until I first decide if it would be worth my while to get the miles.

  17. Hi Jo c – Thanks for sharing.

Hi Paul – I agree, AA has decent availability depending on route and partner.

USAF pilot here – Glad you called. Mixing economy and first was a good idea. Glad it worked out.

Jimgotkp – Sorry to hear that.

    Steve – $1,881 / 95,000 = $0.0198

Paolo – Looks like a few folks have received the 80% offer which appears to be the second lowest offer, just behind a 0% offer:)

  18. I was not made any offer. I am new to US Airways over the last several days.

  19. On the partner award chart, when it says ‘Caribbean’ (or any region for that matter), does it mean any city (assuming *A services that city) just like it does for ‘USA/Canada’? What’s a good way to find a list of Caribbean cities with good *A service?
