There are few beach places that have the name “secret” in them. I’ve been to two in my travels. The first was on Kauai, the second, on this trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands.  This beach sure felt secret to us.

We arrived for an early happy hour with Baby Weekly Flyer after a long flight. We grabbed a table and ordered two cold ones to take in the sunset views of Secret Harbour.

Our first impression was of Secret Harbour was wow! We knew what the beaches on St John were like, but didn’t expect this on St Thomas. After the happy hour, we would walk over to the secret restaurant for a nice dinner which we’ll share in an upcoming post.

Entrance

The entrance to the Cruzan Beach Club bar at Secret Harbour is at the bottom of the road near the Secret Harbour Beach Resort. There is plenty of parking, so if you rented a car you can drive right up and park near the front of the restaurant.

The Cruzan Beach Club has plenty of outdoor seating near the beach, a perfect location to take in a great sunset. If you prefer to sit at the bar, you’ll be able to watch any game on one of their few flat screen televisions. If you are looking for shade, come early to grab a table with an umbrella. But if you prefer an even cooler shade spot you might want to post up near the bar.

This place has discounted happy hour on Sunday nights. Beers are offered at half price. We selected the Presidente and Presidente light for Mrs Weekly Flyer and I. Only $2.50 a piece at a secret bar on an island isn’t that bad.

Baby Weekly Flyer wasn’t drinking and went with apple sauce instead, compliments of a 7x points deal at drugstore through the Chase Ultimate Rewards website.

You can expect to be served on island time from one of the friendly bar tenders. Casual attire is acceptable. No shoes, no shirts, no problem.

I was very surprised by the beach at Secret Harbour. It is a well kept secret for sure, at least from us until now anyway. The atmosphere was a mix of young foreigners (sounded like from Brazil), folks from the states, and locals.

This is the place to catch a sunset on St Thomas. The Cuzcan Beach Club has a nice little menu that won’t take you to the cleaners. But if you prefer to get taken to the cleaners Bora Bora Villa Mahana style, you can venture next door to the Secret Harbour Sunset Grill. We chose to get taken to the cleaners on this night, and enjoyed every moment of it.

Bottom Line

The next time you find yourself on St Thomas or on your way to / from St John, seriously consider a stop at Secret Harbour to take in the nice view and a cold drink.
