Delta will open their space in the renovated terminal 4 at New York’s JFK international airport later this month on May 24, 2013. The renovated terminal will include new Delta Sky Priority® check-in, a new flagship Delta Sky Club® and The Sky Deck™ at Delta Sky Club, which is a new outdoor terrace developed in partnership with Architectural Digest and designed by Thom Filicia. In the mean time, you can experience the new features of the terminal in the experiential space in Manhattan called T4x.

I’m most excited about the new Sky Deck concept, as I mentioned back in January. The concept is rolling out in New York first followed by a roll out in Atlanta later this summer. I didn’t get the formal invite to attend the kickoff party in the middle of the week like Mrs Rapid Travel Chai did, but I’ll have a first hand report for Points, Miles & Martinis readers soon enough.

Delta Sky Club Terrace

The new Sky Deck won’t influence my decision to fly to or through JFK on Delta. But with the combination of flat-bed or lie-flat operated flights, I think I’m leaning that way.

Do you have any plans to visit the new Terminal 4 or Sky Deck anytime soon?

  1. I’ll be there in July when I start my RTW trip on Delta. First leg JFK-NRT upstairs in the 747.

  2. It’s interesting how so many of the airlines have learned that although the experience on the ground isn’t as important to that in the air, it’s still critical to the overall experience. Just look at how JetBlue paved the way to a new experience when they opened their new terminal at JFK. Let’s hope that, like Delta, many other airlines will follow.
