The Grand Hyatt Kauai’s best asset is it’s expansive property. Beyond the hotel’s ocean front view rooms and one of the best club lounges I’ve ever visited, is the multi-level pool complex, salt water lagoons and sandy beach. If you get tired exploring the Waimea Canyon Lookout, Kauai’s North Coast, the St Regis Princeville or the North Shore Beaches, the Grand Hyatt Kauai is a fantastic place to enjoy your day from sun up to sun down.

Grand Hyatt Kauai Pool

Our favorite place to relax at the Grand Hyatt Kauai was the pool. And at the pool, our favorite place to relax was at the lazy river. And at the lazy river, our favorite place to relax was near the waterfall. You get my point, this place can be relaxing. There are adult pools and a slide for kids. Something for everything but we found our spot in the middle of both. I was even able to convince Mrs Weekly Flyer to go down the slide, once.

Grand Hyatt Salt Water Pond

The salt water lagoons are a great place to take the little ones. They have sand at the bottom and are a mix between the fresh water pool safety with the salt water of the ocean.

Grand Hyatt Kauai Beach

The beach at the Grand Hyatt is great for walking but be careful if you anticipate swimming behind the hotel. The water is rough at time with a strong current and the rocks under the water are not forgiving.

We took a stroll by the water each evening before or after dinner and one night we were surprised to see our first Monk Seal taking a rest from fighting the current. This guy / girl was exhausted.

Surfing At Grand Hyatt Kauai

One thing the Grand Hyatt Kauai beach is good for is surfing. I forgot my surfboard so instead of grabbing a wave, we grabbed a few drinks and watched the surfers ride waves in the evening.

Bottom Line

There are plenty of places to play including the sand, surf or lazy river pool at the Grand Hyatt. This place is practically a kid’s ocean front dream.

  1. Doesn’t seem like great surfing location == great kids beach. Seems like the kind of surf and undertow etc that makes a great surf beach would make it kind of unsafe for young kids.
