Delta Thanks With 250 More Miles - Points Miles and Martinis

Mrs. Weekly Flyer checked her inbox this weekend and noticed a special gift from Delta for 250 miles. The offer was noted as a way to say thanks for having her onboard a recent flight.

Loyalty goes both ways. Here are 250 bonus miles. We enjoy having you on board. That’s why you are receiving 250 bonus miles. It’s just our way of saying “Thank You.” Your miles don’t expire, so this gets you closer to your next award ticket.

I was surprised, because I’ve never seen this bonus offer. Have you? Here is the offer details:

Award Travel: Taxes (and, if applicable, fees) for Award Travel are the responsibility of the passenger and must be paid at the time the ticket is booked. Award Seats are limited and may not be available on all flights or in all markets. Taxes and fees depend upon the itinerary, but for a ticket within the continental United States, these range from $5-$10 and for international travel may be up to $349 for an Economy Class ticket.
Eligibility: Only members who receive this communication directly from Delta Air Lines are eligible to participate in this offer. This offer is non-transferable. To participate in this offer, SkyMiles member must register online within two weeks of receipt of the offer email.
Offer: Earn a one-time, 250-mile bonus for registering. Bonus miles do not count toward Medallion® Qualification or Million Miler™ status.
Promotional Fulfillment: Bonus miles will appear automatically on member’s SkyMiles statement. Allow up to eight weeks after registration for credit to appear.
Promotional Reference Code: Please refer Delta customer service representative to 97060412.

It looks like it is a targeted offer to those who don’t fly often on revenue tickets with Delta. I think Mrs. Weekly Flyer received this offer after flying on a revenue ticket when she normally just gets booked on an award ticket from all the miles I earn. Anyway, it is a nice gesture and “thanks” from Delta. Even if it is only 250 extra miles, that is 250 more miles than she had before.

  • Bri said,

I have a companion pass on Southwest. I only fly Delta twice a year to see a client in Cincinnati, where SW doesn’t go. I got the offer, too, and it was appreciated.
