Hyatt has introduced their New Possibilities promotion for the fall. Members can earn up to 50,000 bonus points and that is exactly what we here at Points, Miles & Martinis plan to do. The promotion run through The registration is open through October 31, 2013 so if you haven’t yet registered, go ahead and do so now.

Members will earn bonus points on a sliding scale based on the number of nights they stay in a Hyatt hotel. The fact that this promotion is based on nights (not stays) is great news. When a promotion is based on stays, you’ll often find road warriors switching hotels every night they are on the road. This is because each individual night counts as a stay. The other benefit to hotel hopping is to qualify for elite status based on stays vs nights. It only takes half the effort. Hyatt Diamond status is achieved after 25 stays (even if only 1 night) or 50 nights in a hotel. So members who hotel hop to earn a bunch of 1 night stay credits can earn top tier status quicker at most hotel loyalty programs.

But since this promotion is based on nights, you can stay in the same hotel all week and each night will carry just as much weight towards this promotion. So my plan is to skip the hotel hopping this fall and max this promotion out based on multiple-night stays.

Bottom Line

The bad news is this promotion is capped at 50,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points. The good news is that 50,000 points is a lot of Hyatt points. That is enough for more than 2 nights in a top tier hotel (top tier hotels require 22,000 points per night). In addition, you don’t have to hotel hop to quickly max out this promotion. Simply stay 20 nights in a Hyatt hotel and you can max this promotion out. It’s not that hard for a road warrior to max this promotion out.

What’s your strategy to max this promotion out? Will you have enough nights during the promotion period to get to the 20,000 bonus point level or do you think you’ll end up at a lower bonus level?

If you max this promotion out, you’ll need a way to track all those newly earned points. Don’t forget to enter our AwardWallet Plus giveaway that ends this Thursday.
