Some of you may have wondered, where was that picture from the top of Points, Miles & Martinis taken. Simple, on a small island in the Caribbean that has some of the best beaches in the world. We’ve been to plenty of places with a nice beach, but this island has so many great beaches to explore it is hard to choose just one. So on this trip, we set out each day with a hat and a cooler packed with beer to check out all Anguilla had to offer.

Shoal Bay East

Shoal Bay East is on the east side of this ~14mile long island as almost as far as you can get from where we stayed at the Cap Juluca. But the drive and short walk to the beach were well worth the trip. There is even a beach bar called Gwen’s Reggae Bar & Grill.

Once there, we picked up a few more beers from the bar and headed left down the beach to find our spot for the day. We took turns swimming in the crystal clear water and opened each other’s beers. It is a great day when your toughest decision is whether to go with a local or an imported beer and you find yourselves on a beach all alone.

Sandy Ground

Sandy Ground is the main port of the island. It has a long beach that almost wraps up against the cliffs in the background. On a busy day you can see plenty of boats in front of this beach. We laid back over a long lunch before heading back to the hotel.

Meads Bay

We spent almost the entire next day at Meads Bay. The beach is really really long. At the west end is the Viceroy and at the east end is the Malliouhana hotel.

If you go to Anguilla, a visit to Blanchard’s restaurant is a must. Check out the view of this sunset. We parked our boat right out front of the restaurant , watched the sunset and enjoyed a nice meal.

Shoal Bay West

Shoal Bay West might be my second favorite beach on the entire island. It is home to some of the coolest looking beach villa’s I’ve ever seen, the Cove Castles.

There was literally no one else on the beach this day. We had the entire place to ourselves. Wow, what a day it was. We pulled up an umbrella, swam, drank beer, swam some more, and drank a little more. Towards the late afternoon we walked down to the Trattoria Tramonto restaurant and had a great Italian afternoon lunch near the Altamer Luxury Villas.

But it gets better. The best beach was right outside our hotel door.

Maundays Bay

The days we spent back at the hotel were filled with views like this. So needless to say, it was hard to leave the hotel grounds.
