Inside Job? – United $149 Mistake Fare To Europe And Beyond - Points Miles and Martinis

Two days ago, we posted about the unbelievable deals to Europe and beyond on the Norwegian website Wideroe. The deals were amazing. Only $149 to Milan from New York. But how could this deal pop up so quickly? Why was only one site able to book the deal? It seems it may have been an inside travel industry job.

The Autoslash blog has what are self described incriminating details. They allege a user by the name of LN-MOW and Farmer might be representatives for the website and one message was signed “Odd”. The CEO of the website’s first name is Odd Langvatn, the CEO and Managing Director at Widerøe Internet AS.

Double Whoops!!!

Wideroe Website United Deal

This makes me wonder what are the implications for a travel site that publishes a mistake fare for their own benefit? Anyone care to guess?

Fascinating. Going to be a bumpy ride for Wideroe from here.

I’ll book some future fares with them just because. I’m going to Italy for under 200, why not throw them a bone.

can you say “Debit Memo” from United…it will be massive….

I don’t see how Wideroe can escape liability. Knowingly promoting fares they know are wrong. If the fares are honored, Wideroe will be found liable for at least a portion of the discrepancy, perhaps jointly with Amadeus.
