I admit, I was a little excited to try out the new British Airways First Class. But I was more excited to sit down, relax, and get to work on the bottle of Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle champagne that British Airways serves in First Class. This flight was the last flight in a week long golfing tour around the Jewel of the Crown, that is Scotland for those of you that aren’t in the know.

Just “the guys” on a week long once in a lifetime journey to experience the best courses the golf world has to offer. We played the most historic and challenging golf courses available. What a treat. So the return flight in British Airways First Class was just the icing on the cake.

After spending some time in the British Airways Concorde First Class lounge and having lunch, it was time to board. I took the bus from the terminal to the plane’s front door. We boarded and turned left towards the First Class cabin. I had to snap a pick of the giant GE engine.

I had selected seat 2A which is one of the most spacious seats. It is a little longer than the others so provides a bit more room. Upon entering the cabin I was greeted by name and escorted to my seat. My bag was taken and I had a few moments to get comfy before the inventible pre-departure drink order.

The cabin feels spacious yet private. I was flying alone so I preferred the privacy of the window seat. But if Mrs. Weekly Flyer had adjoined me, I would have definitely selected the middle seats. They have a cool opening between the two seats allowing for discussion throughout the flight.

After only a moment the main event had arrived. It was time for the pre-departure happy hour. On order were several glasses of Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle. This is no table champagne. It’s quite pricey by the bottle at retail. After a few sips I was already looking forward to glass number two…and three.

I didn’t bother with the First Class pajamas, I was focused on the champagne! I gave them away to a lucky reader. But they did feel comfy. The creamy and subtle acidity along with effervescence was fantastic way to start the flight and had my complete attention during the pre-departure service.

The flight was non-eventful, the service excellent, and the afternoon snacks were tasty. Standby for a full trip report including golf courses and individual scores.
