Delta tweeted today, that they are going to be offering free spirits in Economy on all international flights starting today.

Previously on international flights, complimentary spirits were only available in BusinessElite or in Economy Comfort, so adding free spirits to the economy cabin is a nice enhancement.

Complimentary spirits will be offered in Economy on all international flights that feature a BusinessElite cabin. This means flights to Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia etc.

In addition, they will be offered on Delta’s intra Asian routes, as well as flights from the U.S. to Bogota, Columbia; Caracas, Venezuela; and Quito, Ecuador, even though some of these routes do not feature a BusinessElite cabin.

I want to point out that their Joint Venture partners Air France and KLM offer free spirits in Economy, so possibly they are trying to align with their partners more closely.

Bottom Line

This is a nice enhancement, so props to Delta for adding free spirits to their Economy Cabin.

  1. Yes, it is an “enhancement”, yet, airlines used to offer free alcoholic drinks on all international routes, I’m really glad to see those things are coming back. Let’s just see if other airlines are going to follow.

  2. Man, Delta is kicking United in a soft spot. We are lucky to get an orange juice out of them on a 12 hr flight, never mind a low quality adult drink.

  3. As per the trend these days, this does “water down” the benefit of upgrading to Economy Comfort.
