Free Delta Drink Certificate Update: Better Deal Is Drink Coupons From SkyBonus - Points Miles and Martinis

Drink Coupons! The other day I contemplated about whether drink coupons or lounge passes were the better deal. While I do enjoy a cold beverage in a Sky Club like the new JFK Sky Club, I ended up deciding to use my 30,000 SkyBonus points for drink coupons. There was only one problem. The drink coupon terms and conditions clearly state they will be good through the end of the year. So I wanted to test out the expiration date by ordering drink coupons in 10 coupon batches. In this post I’ll share the results of from ordering my first batch of free drink coupons from Delta through their SkyBonus program.

New Delta Sky Club In New York

Last year SkyBonus took away the ability to redeem for drink coupons late in the year. Then the Delta SkyBonus program brought back the beverage coupon award option late in the year. This year, it’s been there the whole time. So I was a little concerned with the first order.

I’m happy to report that based on my experience, I can put any concern I had to rest because I now have 10 beverage coupons good through December 31, 2014.

Based on this test, it is reasonable to assume that all newly issued beverage coupons will be valid through the same date, but as always YMMV.

Delta SkyBonus Other Rewards Expiration

To redeem SkyBonus points for beverage coupons simply follow the next few steps.

1. Verify Terms And Conditions – The terms and conditions of the beverage headset say they are valid for current year only, however the detailed terms and conditions state they are valid for a period of 12 months.

2. Select 1 order of Beverage coupons – This order will send you 10 beverage coupons

Bottom Line

The Delta SkyBonus program is a rewards program that allows businesses to earn rewards for their employee travel. If you don’t have SkyBonus miles you can still get free drinks using using free drink coupons and the elite member Have One On Us program. But if you do have SkyBonus points, I’d consider redeeming for these coupons that can help brighten your travel day.
