Delta is trying to win big in New York, and it appears that they are trying to do so by giving away Platinum Medallion status for some New Yorkers.
Delta launched a targeted offer that for those who are eligible will receive complimentary Platinum Medallion Status, complimentary Delta Sky Club membership, and 100,000 Delta SkyMiles after purchasing a BusinessElite ticket. Unfortunately, I was not targeted for this offer, and I suspect that it is highly targeted.
Details of this offer include:
Register before March 31, 2014, to receive:
• 60 days of complimentary Platinum Medallion status.
• 60 days of complimentary Delta Sky Club membership.
To help you hold onto the perks that you richly deserve, all you have to do is book one BusinessElite ticket and fly within 60 days of registration, and you’ll earn:
• Platinum Medallion status through February 2015.
• Delta Sky Club membership for an additional 10 months.
• 100,000 bonus miles.
Bottom Line
Funny how Delta claims that their SkyClubs are too crowded so they need to raise rates and strip Amex Platinum cardholders of guest access, yet they are willing to give away SkyClub access to those who can register for this.

Yes, the SkyClubs are too crowded, so let’s give away memberships to new people. This goes to show you that the explanations DL gives for their “program enhancements” are simply not true, only meant to sound good.
I would love to know the mechanics of the target for this one. It is a great offer.

I am a UA Platinum, and just received DL Gold Status match if I fly 1 Business Elite flight within 60 days of registering. Needs to be on DL metal, which makes the usual run of NYC-CDG very frustrating (DL only flies out of EWR).

Where did you get that from? Delta flies from JFK to CDG for sure.

My understanding is that all JFK-CDG-JFK flights are on AF metal.
This really peeved us off because the family and I flew JFK-CDG-JFK in paid AF J, only to read the fine print that we didn’t get MDQs for the above reason.
We did some digging and saw DL has a EWR-CDG flight on DL metal, but EWR isn’t terribly convenient for us. Are we missing something?
well, if *i* had a company and *i* wanted to seize the moment, realizing that high-revenue, business-class-traveling UA platinums might be shopping for a new airline, i’d find a way to say, “hey, check out delta,” too.
it’s a golden opportunity to grab some loyal hi rev flyers, that’s all, not a slap in the face to the rest of us.

I got the offer-I am new to this. What is the easiest/cheapest way for me to take advantage of this offer? I live in NY. I did some traveling last year but I have no plans for any flights.
Look for a BE coded flight that is close and inexpensive AND someplace you’d already like to go. Consider Caribbean, Western Europe, etc. The 100k bonus offer is a great deal. So whatever you pay for the flight will likely be offset by the miles you’ll earn.
wow…being in the Delta in crowd in cool…in the out club…well not so much. I called on one of these medallion offers just to see what they say and summed up it was just sorry, not for you. i have been loyal to delta for over 35 years and fly no other. sad.
Has anyone received confirmation from Delta on whether or not any J/C/D/I/Z fare count?
Looking at a flight from EWR-ATL. It’s a Z fare and the seat map says BusinessElite but I am worried they will only accept TCON flights.
Curious to see if anyone has an answer to Danielle’s question. It says J/C/D/I/Z fare with BE service. But many LAS/ATL/etc flights book into those fare classes. I wonder if this would count. Thoughts?
Just got a very similar offer – but it’s 50K SkyMiles and Gold status, not Platinum. I’m a Silver NYC resident who will definitely make Gold on my own in the next 3 or 4 months. Not sure why they’d target me.
According to Delta, only Transcontinental flights eligible are JFK to West Coast..

Kennedy/JFK and Los Angeles/LAX, San Francisco/SFO, and Seattle/SEA, and (d) between the U.S. and Brasilia/BSB, Buenos Aires/EZE, Lima/LIM, Rio de Janeiro/GIG, Santiago, Chile/SCL and Sao Paulo/GRU
Doesn’t say anything about direct/non-direct, so you may be able to go from NYC to LAX through ATL and get the fare class on the NYC-ATL fare.
