Free Wifi Coming To Atlanta International Airport - Points Miles and Martinis

Here’s an interesting development for Atlanta flyers and perhaps folks based in larger airports. Larger airports, like Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport usually charge to use their wifi system. But in Atlanta that is about to change.

According to some great reporting by the AJC here, the airport is seeking city council approval to upgrade their current wifi infrastructure. The new system could be unveiled as soon as late March if approved.

Atlanta Airport From Above

Bottom Line

Free wifi in Atlanta would be a significant improvement that would allow up to 15,000 users on the system at once. An upgrade over the current 4,000 user max. Will be interesting to see if other major airports follow behind Atlanta.

Seeing more free wi-fi popping up. Both Detroit and Minneapolis had free options that worked, even though they needed to be renewed every 45 minutes. Not sure if this was just a holiday thing or the new normal.
